"Who said Aparajita is silent on the Balasore issue... See how the critics are reacting... How fiercely Madam has spoken!"........................................................
"They act like hypocrites, pretending to sweep clean" – Bhubaneswar MP targets opposition over Balasore incident.
After the highly discussed su***de of Soumyashree Bishi, a student of FM College in Balasore, politics in the state has intensified. On this occasion, MP Aparajita Sarangi has directly targeted the opposition in a press meet. She has questioned the opposition BJD, asking them to review their own governance before pointing fingers.
"The opposition BJD is acting like hypocrites, pretending to sweep clean," said Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi. She stated that if the Congress (40 years) and BJD (24 years) had genuinely worked for women's safety and empowerment, such a situation would not have arisen today.
In the press meet, Aparajita directly questioned the BJD: "During their 24-year rule, when similar incidents happened with women, did the then Chief Minister (Naveen Patnaik) ever meet the victims' families or visit them in the hospital? Did he ever console them or ensure justice?"
She highlighted that the current Chief Minister (Naveen Patnaik’s successor) immediately visited the victim upon returning from Delhi, met her at the hospital, discussed treatment with doctors, and assured justice to the family. Even the President of India, Draupadi Murmu, personally checked on the victim’s treatment during her visit.
Aparajita also informed that Soumyashree’s brother filed an FIR at Bhograi police station, stating, "We feel unsafe from the BJD and Congress... They do not want us to get justice."
She further pointed out that the Governor has directed the formation of Internal Complaint Committees (ICC) in every college. "Our government always stands with women," she asserted.
Aparajita emphasized that development should not be politicized. "Just as we all pull Lord Jagannath’s chariot together, we must unite for progress."She assured that the guilty in the Balasore case would be punished.
Criticizing former CM Naveen Patnaik, she said, "The same leader who is now shedding crocodile tears ruled for 24 years. All incidents during his tenure are public knowledge. Did he ever visit the victims?"
She also slammed the Congress, which ruled for 40 years, asking why they never established a proper system for women's safety. "Now, they are indulging in mudslinging politics to remain relevant."
Aparajita accused opposition parties of exploiting the issue for publicity. "They are only trying to stay in the news, not genuinely concerned about justice." She shared social media posts as evidence, alleging that some political workers had even instigated the victim by saying, "If no one listens to you, commit su***de."
Taking a sharp dig at the opposition, she said, "They act like hypocrites, pretending to sweep clean." She questioned the moral right of the BJD and Congress to speak on women's safety, given their poor track record.
Indirectly targeting Delhi-based leaders (possibly Alka Lamba of Congress), she said, "Some women leaders come from Delhi just to disturb the peace. Their own government’s record on women’s safety disqualifies them from preaching."
