*Bengaluru, June 20:* The National Education society - which has the distinction of making a unique contribution to the field of education - has commenced Dr H. N. National College of Engineering at its Jayanagar campus from the current a academic year.

The College will also have MBA and MCA courses, National Education Society Chairman Dr H. N. Subrahmanya said here on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters at Dr H. N. College of Engineering, Dr Subramanya said the new courses are being launched to enable the future generations to become thorough professionals as per the desire of Late Dr H. Narasimhaiah.

This Educational Institution was started in 1917 and has crossed several milestones and the same institution has been registered as National Education Society of Karnataka. This institution started 21 schools and colleges.

"Basavanagudi Centre is the main as well as the source of all other institutions. We are proud that our institution has been making giant strides even in remote areas thus catering to the educational needs of the lower-, middle class section of society," Dr Subramanya added.

"In an effort to offer technically qualified professionals to the society keeping in mind the tremendous advancement in technology, we have opened up this new Engineering College in 2024. We have succeeded to obtain permission from AICTE thanks to the efforts put in by all the teaching and non-teaching staff. We have also obtained permission from VTU and the state government," Dr Reddy explained.

The new Engineering College intends to fill up 126 candidates for Computer Science, 120 candidates in Information Science, 60 candidates in Artificial Intelligence, 60 candidates from Electronics and Communications, 120 candidates for MBA and 120 candidates for MCA courses.

"We plan to provide concession in fee to meritorious students," he added.

*Bengaluru, May 27:* Banking is a service that depends much on faith and the banking sector grows if there is absolute faith," said Justice P. S. Dinesh Kumar, former Chief Justice of Karnataka here on Monday.

Speaking after inaugurating the 10th branch of Sree Charan Cooperative Bank near Sahakaranagar at Kodigehalli, Justice Dinesh Kumar said if the faith in the bank becomes strong and leads to deposits, then the banks are bound to grow and develop.

"We need to do everything that is possible to ensure that the people develop absolute faith in the banking practices," Justice Dinesh Kumar added.

Stating that the banking services should increase in the present modern times by providing absolute services, Justice Kumar said the banks can offer better services to people if more branches are opened.

He said Dwarakanath and his team are doing immense service to the people through Sree Charan Cooperative Bank.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Editor of Public TV H.R. Ranganath said it is difficult to work with honesty and righteousness in the present day. The biggest inadequacy of the banking sector is the absence of faith. The Cooperative banking sector has witnessed everything which ought not to have happened.

"However, Sree Charan Bank is an exception. By opening its 10th branch, it is growing with a good pace. Cautious approach is the need of the hour. We must keep in mind that those who keep deposit have earned their money in a hard way," Ranganath added.

*Bengaluru, December 15:* Noted film maker and eminent environmentalist Suresh Kumar on Friday felt that there is a need to bridge the gap between the Westrem countries and India in the issue of understanding sustainability.

Delivering his keynote address at an international conference on sustainability organised by Soundarya Institute of Management, Suresh Heblikar said that it is possible for various countries to practice sustainability but what is important is that sustainability should be an enduring one and environmentally-friendly with a comprehensive understanding.

"Every youngster need to be properly educated on the practices of sustainability and enable to cultivate the same," Heblikar added.

The event was presided over by M. Keerthan Kumar, CEO of Soundarya Educational Trust. Santhosh Hegde, Organic Farming practitioner, in his speech said that he had successfully converted barren land into a self-sustaining farm through Organic farming.
