Swift Action by Police: Accused Arrested and Stolen Property Worth ₹70 Lakh Recovered. On 28 June 2025, a resident of , lodged a complaint at the Police Station. She reported that while she had gone to her daughter’s residence, unknown persons broke into her locked house and stole: • 90 sovereigns of gold ornaments • 1 diamond necklace • 2 diamond bangles • 750 g of silver articles The total value of the stolen property is estimated at ₹70 lakhs. Based on the information, a case was registered in No. 241/2025 for offences punishable under Sections 331(4) and 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation was initiated. During the course of investigation, four special teams were formed. The teams: • Conducted a meticulous examination of the crime scene and lifted fingerprints for comparison with those of known offenders. • Analysed more than 100 CCTV recordings from the vicinity.
Gathered information on recently released convicts and local suspects. • Traced an auto-rickshaw seen loitering near the victim’s residence. Acting on these leads, the teams arrested Arogyaraj (46), son of P. Kotandaraman, of No. 3/999, Kanni Koil 4th Street, Chitlapakkam, at 09:15 hrs on 30 June 2025. Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to the burglary. All stolen items 90 sovereigns of gold jewellery, one diamond necklace, two diamond bangles, and 750 gm of silver articles were recovered in full. The accused was produced before the concerned Judicial Magistrate and has been remanded to judicial custody.
