The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called for a one-day strike today (Friday) to press for the demand of a five-day work week, a matter that has been pending for two years. Following this, bank branches will remain closed on September 12 (the second Saturday of the month) and September 13 (Sunday). If the government and bank management do not accept the demands, an indefinite nationwide bank strike will commence on October 26.
ગુજરાત સહિત દેશભરમાં SBI, PNB અને યૂનિયન બેંક સહિત સરકારી અને કેટલીક ખાનગી બેંક આજે 11 સપ્ટેમ્બરથી ત્રણ દિવસ બંધ રહેશે. યુનાઇટેડ ફોરમ ઓફ બેંક યુનિયન્સે( UFBU) બે વર્ષથી પડતર 5-ડે વર્કિંગની માંગ સાથે આજે શુક્રવારે એક દિવસની હડતાળનું એલાન કર્યું છે. જે બાદ 12 સપ્ટેમ્બરે મહિનાનો બીજો શનિવાર અને 13 સપ્ટેમ્બરે રવિવાર હોવાથી બેંકની શાખાઓ બંધ રહેશે. જો સરકાર અને બેંક મેનેજમેન્ટને માંગણી ન સ્વીકારી, તો 26 ઓક્ટોબરે દેશભરની બેંકમાં અનિશ્ચિતકાળની હડતાલ શરૂ થઈ જશે.
