🗞️ 9,000-Year-Old Neolithic Cave Paintings Unearthed in Tamil Nadu's Yelagiri Hills
Yelagiri Hills, Tamil Nadu – July 2025:

A groundbreaking archaeological discovery has surfaced in the serene hills of Yelagiri, as a series of ancient Neolithic-era cave paintings, estimated to be over 9,000 years old, have been found near Reddiyur village in Tirupattur district.

The artwork—preserved on the walls of a 100-square-metre cave—features more than 80 figures drawn in white mineral pigment, depicting scenes of human-animal interaction, hunting rituals, dance, war-like gatherings, and community life. Experts suggest the site was likely a ritual gathering space for prehistoric people and may have also served as a shelter for nearly 50 individuals.

The discovery was initiated by a group of local trekkers who noticed mysterious markings and alerted faculty from Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur. A research team led by Professor A. Prabhu, along with forest department officials, later confirmed the historic significance of the site.

“These paintings offer rare insight into the spiritual and social life of South Indian Neolithic communities,” said Prof. Prabhu. “This find is among the oldest known rock art ever discovered in Tamil Nadu.”

However, archaeologists have raised concerns over vandalism and environmental exposure. They urge immediate conservation action from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the state’s heritage authorities to preserve the fragile site for future study.

As interest grows, this ancient discovery is poised to rewrite regional prehistory, highlighting Tamil Nadu’s deep-rooted contributions to India’s early human civilization.

₹1,332 கோடி ஒப்புதல்

சுருக்கமான செய்தி:
திருப்பதி–பகாலா–காட்பாடி இடையேயான 104 கி.மீ. ஒற்றை ரயில் பாதையை இரட்டிப்பாக்க ₹1,332 கோடி செலவில் மத்திய அமைச்சரவை ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது. இந்த திட்டம் ஆந்திரா மற்றும் தமிழ்நாட்டின் மூன்று மாவட்டங்களை இணைத்து, சுமார் 113 கி.மீ. புதிய ரயில் பாதையை உருவாக்கும். 400 கிராமங்கள் மற்றும் 14 லட்சம் மக்கள் பயன்பெறும் வகையில் இது அமைக்கப்படுகிறது.

இந்த மேம்பாடு, திருப்பதி, ஸ்ரீகாளஹஸ்தி, காணிப்பாக்கம், சந்திரகிரி கோட்டை போன்ற முக்கிய ஆன்மீக மற்றும் சுற்றுலா தலங்களுக்கு அணுகலை எளிதாக்கும். மேலும், ஆண்டுக்கு 4 மில்லியன் டன் கூடுதல் சரக்கு போக்குவரத்தையும், 4 கோடி லிட்டர் எரிபொருள் சேமிப்பையும், 20 கோடி கிலோ கிராம் CO₂ குறைப்பையும் நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது. இதனால், சுற்றுச்சூழலுக்கு உகந்த மற்றும் ஆற்றல் திறன் கொண்ட போக்குவரத்து முறையாக இது அமையும்.

இந்த திட்டம், பிரதமர் மோடியின் PM Gati Shakti தேசிய பெருந்திட்டத்தின் கீழ் ஒருங்கிணைந்த போக்குவரத்து உள்கட்டமைப்பை மேம்படுத்தும் நோக்கத்தில் செயல்படுகிறது.

வேலூர் மாவட்ட காவல்துறையால் கைப்பற்றப்பட்ட வாகனங்கள் மே 29ஆம் தேதி பொது ஏலத்தில் விற்பனை செய்யப்பட உள்ளன.
ஏலம் காலை 10.30 மணி முதல் மாநகர காவல் துணை ஆணையர் அலுவலகத்தில், வேலூரில் நடைபெறும்.
இந்த ஏலத்திற்காக 100-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட இருசக்கர வாகனங்கள் மற்றும் வேறு வாகனங்கள் பட்டியலிடப்பட்டுள்ளன.
ஏலத்தில் பங்கேற்க விருப்பமுள்ளவர்கள் தங்களுடைய அடையாள ஆவணங்கள் மற்றும் தேவையான ஆவணங்களுடன் கலந்து கொள்ளலாம்.
