Raksha Bandhan Turns Tragic: BJP Leader Admits to Wife’s Murder in Ajmer
Ajmer, Rajasthan — August 12, 2025:
What was meant to be a day of family celebration turned into a chilling crime scene in Ajmer. Rohit Saini, BJP Mandal general secretary from Udaipur Kalan, has confessed to killing his wife Sanju Saini on Raksha Bandhan, August 10.
The couple was returning from Sanju’s parental home in Ralawata village when Rohit claimed they were attacked by motorcycle-borne robbers who fatally assaulted his wife and stole valuables. He rushed her to a hospital, but doctors declared her dead.
Police Suspicion and Breakthrough
Investigators quickly noticed contradictions in Rohit’s statement:
He had no injury marks despite claiming a violent robbery.
Sanju’s mangalsutra remained intact — unusual in a theft.
Background checks revealed ongoing marital disputes and Rohit’s alleged extramarital affair.
Confronted with evidence, Rohit admitted that the murder was premeditated, planned five days earlier with the help of his friend Ravi Meghwal and a 15-year-old accomplice. The trio staged the crime to appear as a roadside robbery.
Motive and Arrests
Police say the motive was rooted in personal conflict, with Rohit wanting to eliminate his wife due to relationship tensions. All three accused have been arrested, and stolen jewellery is being recovered.
Community Shock
The revelation has stunned the local community, especially given the symbolic nature of Raksha Bandhan — a festival celebrating protection and trust. Social media reactions have been filled with outrage, with calls for strict legal action.
The investigation continues, with police examining phone records, CCTV footage along the route, and potential links to other accomplices.
