Krishna is called Hari because Hari means "one who steals" or "one who removes everything inauspicious from our lives". And Krishna is called Isvara because He is the supreme controller of everything. Sometimes we find that idea to be challenging, because we oftentimes consider ourselves to be the controller. We develop a concept of what we are going to do, and then when things don’t go according to our concept, we become completely frustrated. And this is because we forget that the supreme controller and the cause of all causes is Sri Krishna.

If we see a person who possesses some phenomenal intelligence or we see the intelligence of a living being, we can understand that that is the Lord. Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita, “I am the intelligence in man.” If you see somebody very clever, Krishna is very clever also. You can just see that that intelligence is coming from the Lord.

Just think about these two devotees, the great Madhavendra Puri and Nityananda stimulating each other in ecstatic love. In the same way, when we come together, we should always encourage and remind one another about Krishna in order that one day that ecstatic love will be stimulated.

If we study systematically, we will have faith which would be very deep and unshakable. Just like in the Bhagavad-gita Lord Krishna says, “If you cultivate this knowledge, then you will remain steady even in the midst of the greatest storm.” This is just like the candle in the place where there is no wind, the candle flame is always very straight. And if you cultivate the knowledge of Krishna consciousness, your mind and your senses will always be straight and your knowledge will always be straight.

With full humility cultivate the feeling: I want to give myself to Krishna. And with that devotional mentality Krishna will reciprocate with us. And when we become favored by Krishna, He will “tesam satata yuktanam” (BG-10.10) light the lamp of knowledge in your heart. We should faithfully hear from guru, sadhu, sastra, how to awaken the mood of unmotivated devotional service. To simply want bhakti for the sake of bhakti.

On a day like today when we are trying to remember Srila Prabhupada more, I pray to Srila Prabhupad to allow me to become more sincere and more dedicated in trying to fulfill his instructions of spreading Krishna consciousness. I am an eternal servant of my eternal master Srila Prabhupada. And Srila Prabhupada is very kind and merciful, despite my weaknesses and despite my discrepancies, Prabhupada mercifully continues engaging me into his service. So I thank Srila Prabhupada for that, and I feel that the only way I can show my gratitude for the mercy that the spiritual master bestowed upon me is if I try to assist him in his mission to help people become Krishna conscious.

In the same way that sweetness cannot be taken away from sugar and liquidity cannot be taken away from water, the propensity to serve cannot be separated from ourselves. And the furthest extent of the propensity for service is when we engage in the unalloyed service of God. And the great teachers and all the great masters have explained that this service to the Lord alone gives the highest happiness in life.

Krishna says, “I will personally light the lamp of knowledge inside of your heart and that lamp of knowledge will burn and all the ignorant darkness will go away. And then you'll see the true path of vaisnavism and you'll see the true path of dharma and religion and you'll just run to me on that path".

And Krishna says "If you just remember me with love, if you just offer your obeisances to me, if you just worship me, if you just become my devotee - then I promise you with all the sincerity I have within my heart" - and here He is taking as a person, He is not talking as the almighty God, He is talking as a person - "I promise you with all the sincerity that I have within my heart, that I will bring you to me. And why? Because you've done these things, I love you!
Not because I'm impressed by some super knowledge that you have, or not because I'm impressed by some super power that you have, or not because I'm impressed by some super wealth you have, because, you know, knowledge, wealth and power - it only comes from Me. So those things don't impress me. But your humble and sweet love, your devotion, your surrender - that's what conquered Me."

This is the dilemma that we're all facing. That we had become so programmed by repeated birth in this world that we think that we're material And Arjuna was in this material conception of life as well. He was thinking “I am Arjuna, I’m a Pandava. This is my family. This is my guru. This is my blood. How can I fight with them.” But Krishna looked at him and said: “You're a fool.” And Arjuna, he folded his hands he said: “My dear friend, I'm completely bewildered. I surrender to You, please give me direction, so that my life will be successful.” And at that time Krishna began singing this Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna.

We need to endeavor in order to receive Lord Chaitanya’s mercy. He is so kind and He is so merciful. We can struggle on our own for a very long time but by His mercy, very quickly our bhakti will become successful. It's not that we have to do something quantitatively massive but whatever we do, we should try to do it with love.
