Sometimes people would ask our spiritual master Srila Prabhupada: “You are speaking about reincarnation, you're speaking about transmigration of the soul. What is the proof of reincarnation? Who has gone to the other side and then come back to tell us how the body changed?”

Srila Prabhupada would say that it is a practical observable fact in this life. Just like here we have Loka Bandhu Prabhu. Loka, how old are you? Thirty six years old. But one time you had a five year old. Yes? Where’s it gone? One time you had a ten year old body. Where’s it gone? One time you had a 15 year old body. Beautiful shining Kazakh body that was glowing with the sun of Central Asia, with beauty that was incomparable! Where’s that 15 year old body gone? When I first met you, you had a 25 year old body, where’s that body gone? You see. But you are still the same. You are the soul.

You are the soul. You are Loka Bandhu.

You are not just Kazakh body.

And then you will become very very old. Still you will be Loka Bandhu.

Reincarnation is an observable fact.

The Vaisnavas are vanca kalpataru – they are desire-fulfilling trees. They do not fulfill our material desires, but they fulfill our spiritual aspirations. Actually, maybe sitting here in this room, we may be sitting next to people that we never speak to, but you can rest assured that the person who is sitting next to you, they know the deepest and most secret desires of your heart. Because that deepest and the most secret desire is to love Krishna. That is the bond which has brought all of us together in this movement; that desire is deep within the heart. That’s our original desire, and the Vaisnavas know that. So the Vaisnavas will try to give you everything that will be necessary to awaken that dormant love for Krishna.

There is one position where you chant in ignorance. You don’t understand what is the holy name or you don’t understand what are Vaisnavas. You don’t understand who is Lord Krishna and you don’t understand what is bhakti and you don’t understand who you are, entangled in the material world. But somehow you come in contact with the mantra, you chant, and in that position you may chant, you may make mistakes, but by consistently chanting that mantra and by the power of the mantra the mistakes or the deficiencies in the heart will become corrected. Especially if one will come into good association

Prabhupada, in one lecture he said, “Do not expect your wife to make you Krishna conscious. Do not expect your husband to make you Krishna conscious. Certainly do not expect your temple president to make you Krishna conscious. And most of all, don’t expect me to do it for you. You have to make a decision.”

Many times we find ourselves in such a passive position. Because we are waiting for somebody else to do it for us. But self-realization means that you have to do it yourself. It means that we hear from the guru, we hear from the sastra, we hear from the sadhus, and they give so much direction, they give so much guidance. They give sastric jnana, evidence from history, from their own personal experience.

Lord Krishna says that when we come to the transcendental platform we will be able to see the true equality of all living beings. He explains that for a person who is situated in knowledge, he sees each and every living being as the spiritual soul and eternal part and parcel of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Srila Jayadvaita Swami was speaking to our spiritual master Srila Prabhupada one time. He said, “Prabhupada, you are perfect, therefore you know everything.” Prabhupada said, “No, I don’t know everything. Only Krishna knows everything.” Then Jayadvaita Swami said, “But how much do you know?” Prabhupada said, “I know enough to do my service, and if I need to know more, Krishna will reveal more knowledge to me.”
