The Administration of the C.B. Dunbar Comprehensive Hospital has dismissed recent reports alleging illegal drug sales, unauthorized nightly bed fees, and staff neglect, describing the claims as misleading and harmful to the institution’s reputation.
In a statement issued on its official page Monday, November 24, 2025, the hospital clarified that all fees collected at the facility are guided strictly by the Ministry of Health under Liberia’s new health financing policy.
The policy requires all public hospitals to charge minimum standardized fees following funding reductions from major donors, including USAID.
The C.B. Dunbar Comprehensive Hospital administration strongly denied allegations that staff are selling medication for personal gain, noting that all drugs are dispensed through authorized hospital channels.
Any staff found violating ethical standards, they said, would face investigation and disciplinary action.
Reports suggesting nurses habitually neglect patients in favor of mobile phones were also rejected as unfair generalizations. The hospital acknowledged that isolated lapses can occur but said such incidents do not reflect the overall professionalism of the workforce.
The administration further clarified that the 2024 incident involving an elderly patient has been repeatedly misrepresented, despite having been thoroughly investigated.
Responding to questions about the increased allocation in the 2026 Draft National Budget, the hospital explained that US$250,000 is designated for operational support to improve service delivery while, US$500,000 is earmarked for urgent renovation of the hospital’s aging infrastructure.
The hospital urged the public and media institutions to avoid spreading unverified information and instead report concerns directly to the administration through established complaint channels.
C.B. Dunbar Comprehensive Hospital administration headed by Mr. Enoch Kermue Darwolo Morris Sr. reaffirmed its commitment to offering safe and compassionate care despite operational challenges and called for constructive engagement from the community as efforts continue to improve health services in B**g County.
