I extend my heartfelt and deepest condolences to the family of the illustrious singer and songwriter, Zubeen Garg. Born in the serene town of Tura, Meghalaya, on November 18, 1972, he was blessed to grow up in a family where art and music flourished. From his earliest days, his mother, a gifted singer, lovingly nurtured his budding talent, while his father, a magistrate and a revered poet and lyricist, profoundly inspired and shaped his path toward music and songwriting.
From a tender age, Zubeen exhibited a rare passion and mastery for music, weaving together melodies that transcended language and culture. This memorable event, which I had the honor to be part of as the then Tourism Minister, sowed seeds of hope and aspiration in the young minds of South Garo Hills, particularly the students of Rongkandi Mission School, during his visit in 2014. His charitable performance uplifted and inspired many young hearts in the region.
It is with profound sorrow that I acknowledge the departure of such a luminous soul from this world. Yet, even as we mourn his loss, we hold dear his beautiful memories—treasures that will forever illuminate the hearts of millions. The legacy of his extraordinary talent, boundless spirit, and enduring influence will continue to inspire us all for generations to come.
May his family find solace in the enduring love and admiration that surround them. My thoughts and prayers are with them during this unimaginable time of grief.
