|| Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha Unites Against Israeli Airstrike, Demands Action.
Leaders of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) gathered in Doha today(15 Sept 2025)for an extraordinary summit called after Israel’s recent airstrike in the Qatari capital. The strike on September 9 targeted residential buildings allegedly sheltering Hamas members and killed a Qatari security officer, prompting Qatar to denounce it as “state terrorism” and a violation of sovereignty.
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani opened the summit, reaffirming his country’s commitment to legal and diplomatic action while stressing regional solidarity. Leaders from Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Malaysia and Egypt attended, with Pakistan co-sponsoring the meeting.
Draft resolutions under discussion call for a strong condemnation of Israel’s actions, warnings that such attacks threaten regional stability, and consideration of diplomatic, legal or economic measures. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said Israeli policies were undermining peace agreements.
While states agree on condemning the attack, divisions remain over how far to go in responding. The final communiqué, expected later today, will show whether the summit moves beyond symbolism to concrete action.
