An FIR has been lodged at the Dollungmukh Police Station against Assam Forest Beat Officer Shri Kulesh Dao and other forest personnel over allegations of illegal trespass, theft, harassment, and carrying out a plantation drive on private land at Rajali village in Kamle district.

According to the complaint, the officials allegedly entered the land on June 1 and removed around 100 bamboo poles. On June 5, they allegedly returned to the same location, carried out plantation activities, used derogatory language toward the landowner's family, and took away around 1,500 CC post numbering poles. The complainant claims the land has been under the family's cultivation for more than 30 years.

Meanwhile, an official stated that the Assam–Arunachal Pradesh boundary issue is a long-pending matter that must be resolved at the earliest. He said that both state governments have constituted a Regional Committee to address the dispute, but the demarcation of the boundary is still uncertain.

The official further noted that a court order directs both sides to maintain the status quo and refrain from carrying out any activities in the disputed area until demarcation is completed.

He also urged all parties to maintain peace and avoid actions that could escalate tensions, adding that the investigation into the complaint is currently under process.

Interaction-cum-Plantation Programme with Ex-Servicemen Held at SP Office, Raga

Raga, June 5: In a first-of-its-kind initiative in Kamle District, an Interaction-cum-Plantation Programme with ex-servicemen was organized at the SP Office, Raga.

The programme witnessed the participation of three ex-servicemen from the Army and Civil Police fraternity out of a total of nine registered ex-servicemen in the district. The remaining members could not attend due to health-related issues.

During the interaction session, the ex-servicemen shared their experiences, views, and valuable suggestions. They expressed concern that their dedication and sacrifices in service of the nation have not received adequate recognition from the people of the district. They also conveyed their disappointment over not being invited to important national events such as Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations.

The participants, however, expressed their gratitude and happiness for being invited to the programme. They appreciated the initiative, stating that it provided them with a meaningful platform to voice their concerns, share their thoughts, and reconnect with fellow veterans and district authorities.

During the meeting, it was also decided that an Ex-Servicemen Cell would be established at the SP Office in the coming days to facilitate the functioning of the Zila Sainik Board and address issues concerning veterans more effectively.

Further, it was resolved that ex-servicemen would be officially invited to important district events, including Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations, in recognition of their invaluable service and contribution to the nation.

The programme concluded with a plantation drive, symbolizing environmental responsibility and the enduring legacy of service rendered by the veterans.

ANSU CEB Affirms Romesh Maga as Acting President

Itanagar, June 2: The Central Executive Body (CEB) of the All Nyishi Students' Union (ANSU), in a meeting held at PYBSS Hotel, Itanagar, on Monday, unanimously affirmed the election of Shri Romesh Maga as Vice President and recognized him as the de facto Acting President of the Union under Article 14(2) of the ANSU Constitution.

The meeting, chaired by ANSU Convenor Shri Gyamar Maya, was convened to address public confusion regarding the constitutional status of the Vice President following the counting of pending ballots on May 18, 2026. The ballot counting, conducted under the observation of representatives of the Nyishi Elite Society (NES), had declared Romesh Maga elected as Vice President.

The House observed that the Result Notification issued on May 18 remains valid and binding unless stayed, modified, or set aside by a competent court or authority. Accordingly, the CEB resolved that Romesh Maga shall continue to discharge the functions and duties of the President as Acting President with effect from the date of declaration of the result.

The CEB also warned that any individual attempting to create public confusion regarding the constitutional position of the Vice President or Acting President through press statements, publications, or social media posts may face disciplinary proceedings in accordance with the ANSU Constitution and principles of natural justice.

Further, the House resolved that all interim or ad hoc arrangements previously made to address vacancies in the offices of President and Vice President stand withdrawn with immediate effect.

The meeting also noted concerns arising from the prolonged inability of the President's office to function due to pending judicial proceedings. The CEB decided to initiate consultations with constituent bodies, the Advisory Board, parent organizations, and other stakeholders to explore constitutional mechanisms for addressing the situation, while ensuring compliance with any future court orders.

Doimukh, June 2: The six-day AIFF D Certificate Coaching Course concluded successfully at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Rono Hills, Doimukh, on Monday. The programme was organized by the Department of Physical Education, RGU, in association with the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) and under the aegis of the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

A total of 24 participants from Arunachal Pradesh and Assam attended the course, which aimed to enhance coaching knowledge and strengthen grassroots football development. The programme was conducted by AIFF Certified Coach Educator Mr. Sangey Tsering, with Mr. Dawa Tsering served as Course Coordinator and Mr. Tasi Leya provides physiotherapy support.

Over six days, participants underwent intensive theoretical and practical training in coaching methodology, player development, session planning, and modern football coaching principles. More than 85 young football trainees from various academies across the state participated in the practical sessions, providing trainee coaches with valuable hands-on experience.

The valedictory function was graced by Prof. Jayadeba Sahoo, Vice Chancellor of RGU, as the Chief Guest, while Dr. N. T. Rikam, Registrar, attended as Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of coach education in strengthening grassroots football and nurturing future sporting talent.

Certificates were distributed to all successful participants, who also shared their experiences and appreciation for the quality of instruction and practical exposure received during the course.

Seven-Day Deadline for NHPC: SULPIC Demands Compliance on PAF and Environmental Issues

Raga/Dollungmukh, June 1: The Subansiri Lower Project Implementation Committee (SULPIC), representing Project Affected Families (PAFs) of the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to NHPC and the authorities, warning of an indefinite bandh at the project site from 5 am on June 9 if its demands remain unaddressed.

In a memorandum addressed to the Executive Director of the project, SULPIC alleged that repeated representations and engagements with authorities since 2009 had failed to resolve long-pending issues concerning affected communities. The committee also expressed dissatisfaction over the reported absence of NHPC officials from a meeting convened by the Sub-Divisional Officer, Dollungmukh, on May 29.

The committee stated that the proposed bandh would continue until its demands are fulfilled, including recognition of the Bini, Kina and Nido clans as Project Affected Families and declaration of Persin Block as a Project Affected Area under the project.

Among its key demands, SULPIC has sought the functioning of the Executive Director’s office at Kolaptukar in Kamle district as envisaged under agreements signed between NHPC, the Arunachal Pradesh government and the Nyishi Elite Society. It has also called for the revocation of the No Objection Certificate issued for commissioning of the project, citing alleged non-compliance with directions of the National Green Tribunal and findings contained in a spot verification report submitted by the SDO, Dollungmukh.

The committee further demanded clearance of vegetation and trees within the designated submergence zone, reassessment of the dam’s projected backflow impact, removal of muck from dumping sites in accordance with environmental norms, and conduct of a DGPS survey in all submergence areas.

SULPIC maintained that the concerns raised relate to environmental compliance, rehabilitation measures and the rights of affected communities. It warned that responsibility for any disruption arising from the proposed bandh would rest with the concerned authorities if timely action is not taken.

Officials from NHPC were yet to issue a response to the ultimatum at the time of filing this report.

Raga, May 31: In a tragic incident, the residence of senior journalist, Editor of Kamle Times, and President of the Raga Press Club, Biku Aka, was completely gutted in a fire on Sunday evening at Raga.

According to reports, the fire broke out at around 4:30 PM. The exact cause of the blaze remains unknown at the time of filing this report.

The fire rapidly engulfed the entire house, reducing it to ashes before any household belongings, important documents, or valuables could be salvaged. Lakhs of rupees worth of ornaments, cash, furniture, electronic appliances, and other household items were reportedly destroyed in the blaze.

No casualties were reported. However, the fire caused massive property loss, including lakhs worth of ornaments and household belongings. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Master Takom Laa, son of Tapa Laa from Laa Village under Puchigeko Circle in Kamle district, has brought laurels to Arunachal Pradesh by securing a Silver Medal at the 19th GFI National Grappling Championship 2026 being held at Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium, Boragaon, Assam from May 29 to 31.

Competing in the 58 kg category, the young athlete displayed exceptional talent and determination during the championship. He defeated strong contenders from Tamil Nadu and Bihar before clinching the silver medal at the prestigious national-level event.

The championship is being organised by the Grappling Federation of India and hosted by the Grappling Association of Assam.

DC Kamle Issues Prohibitory Order on Unauthorized Earth Cutting

Raga, May 29: In view of the onset of the monsoon season, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate of Kamle, Shri J.T. Obi, has issued a prohibitory order banning all unauthorized earth-cutting and excavation activities across the district with immediate effect.

The order was issued following inputs from the District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO), who warned that such activities could trigger landslides, soil erosion, drainage blockages, and damage to roads and public infrastructure, besides posing risks to human life and property.

Invoking Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, along with Sections 30 and 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the District Magistrate directed all Administrative Officers-cum-Executive Magistrates, in coordination with the district police and local Gaon Buras, to strictly enforce the order and maintain vigilance in their respective jurisdictions.

The administration has warned that violators will face legal action, including penalties, cancellation of permits, and seizure of machinery or materials used in unauthorized earth-cutting activities.

The order shall remain in force until further notice.
