Today we announced that Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 digital film camera has been added to the Netflix Approved Camera List. Officially titled “Cameras and Image Capture: Requirements and Best Practices”, the list highlights the capture requirements necessary to be qualified as an approved camera by the streamer, including dynamic range, resolution, codec, workflow compatibility and more. Netflix requires 90% of a program’s final total runtime to be captured on approved cameras. The list already includes the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF, Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF and URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 amongst its approved systems.

Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 is a revolutionary digital film camera that lets customers shoot 65mm open gate 8K at up to 100fps, or 17K at up to 60fps with 16 stops of dynamic range! It introduces a new, extremely large format 65mm RGBW 51 x 24mm image sensor for a truly cinematic large format look. The sensor is designed for incredible quality images at all resolutions from 4K to a massive 17K! The unique RGBW architecture provides equal amounts of red, green and blue pixels for incredible color super sampling.

The Blackmagic URSA Cine platform also introduces new advanced digital film technologies combined with total integration into the post production workflow. That means it's the first digital film camera platform with fast high capability storage built in, plus high speed networking for on set media sync. You can also swap between PL, LPL and EF lens mounts. There's even WiFi with SRT streaming for remote client viewing. Plus the industry standard Lemo and Fischer connections make it perfect for high end cinema production.

Today we released public beta 4 of DaVinci Resolve 20 which adds further improvements to the DaVinci public beta, including a new flat mode for keyframe easing. This means when editing animations on the edit or cut page, you can more quickly ease into or out of a pause or standstill position. So if you are animating a bouncing ball, flat mode will give you a nice pause when the ball is at the top of the bounce before going back down, imitating real world physics.

This update also adds the option to show clip handles when using the curves editor, making it possible to use keyframes in the unused frames before and after a clip. This makes it easier to control the way opacity, position, zoom and other effects are applied at either end of a clip. Another improvement when working with curves is the ability to right click a keyframe to access easing options. This brings up an overlay window to make quick adjustments, speeding up your editing process and preventing any unintentional movement of keyframes.

For Studio users, this update adds support for DaVinci remote monitoring to Windows Intel and AMD systems. That means you now have a wider range of computers supporting the live streaming of your DaVinci Resolve Studio viewer and display to a remote monitor, making remote editing or color grading easier. In addition, this update improves animation support for manually created or imported subtitles. This means DaVinci Resolve will calculate animation timing based on the timeline position, length and number of words to make individual word or letter animation appear more smooth and natural.
