UPP refuses to accept war as a way of settling national and international disputes, and is working to facilitate peaceful and fair coexistence through interaction of different cultures, languages, religions and traditions in order to build social cohesion. In addressing the underlying causes of war, UPP prioritizes human rights and concrete support for those who fight for them and for the basic freedoms, whether they are people, movements, organizations or informal groups.

- ركلةٌ للأمل، حين تصبح الملاعب جسوراً للتعايش!

الرياضة جسرٌ لإعادة بناء السلام وترسيخ التعايش بين الأجيال! بعد الحروب والأزمات، لا تقتصر إعادة البناء على الحجر والمباني، بل تمتد لتشمل إعادة ترميم الروابط الإنسانية التي تضررت. وهنا تبرز الرياضة، وبخاصة كرة القدم، كمساحةٍ جامعة تتجاوز لغات النزاع، لتعزز المشتركات وتفتح آفاقاً جديدة للتفاهم والتقارب بين الأطفال والتلاميذ. تسهم هذه الأنشطة في تحويل الملاعب إلى بيئات آمنة للدعم النفسي، حيث يتعلم الطلاب كيفية بناء علاقات اجتماعية متينة قائمة على الثقة والمحبة والمنافسة الإيجابية، بعيداً عن رواسب الماضي.
تتواصل أنشطة تعزيز السلام من خلال كرة القدم في محافظة أربيل، لتوفير بيئة تشاركية تمكّن الأطفال من التفاعل الإيجابي، وترسّخ في نفوسهم قيم التعايش السلمي، واحترام التنوع، وقبول الآخر. تواصل منظمة تنظيم مباريات وأنشطة كروية ودّية يشارك فيها تلاميذ تتراوح أعمارهم بين 7 و12 عاماً، يمثلون مختلف المكوّنات والخلفيات المجتمعية في أربيل، مما يسهم في تنمية روح الفريق الواحد وتعزيز التعاون الاجتماعي في أوقات التعافي.
ويأتي هذا النشاط ضمن إطار مشروع "كرة القدم من أجل السلام"، بدعم من البلدية الكتلونية ونادي برشلونة الرياضي، وبالشراكة مع منظمة نوفاكت ومدرسة البشارة في أربيل، إلى جانب شركاء دوليين هم "كاسا نوسترا كاسا فوسترا" و"لاكاسيرنا"، في مسعى مشترك لاستخدام الرياضة كأداة فاعلة لبناء السلام وتعزيز القيم الإنسانية المشتركة.
- Kicking for Hope, When the Pitch Becomes a Bridge for Coexistence!

Sports: A Bridge to Rebuilding Peace and Strengthening Coexistence Across Generations! After war and crisis, reconstruction is not limited to physical infrastructure; it involves restoring fractured human connections. In this context, sports especially football emerge as a unifying platform that transcends the language of conflict, strengthening shared values and creating new opportunities for understanding and connection among children and students. These activities transform playgrounds into safe spaces for psychological support, where students learn to build social relationships grounded in trust, affection, and positive competition, leaving behind the scars of the past.
Peacebuilding activities through football continue in Erbil Governorate, providing a safe and inclusive environment that enables children to engage positively while fostering the values of peaceful coexistence, respect for diversity, and acceptance of others. continues to organize friendly football matches and activities involving students aged 7 to 12, representing diverse components and social backgrounds across Erbil. These initiatives contribute to strengthening team spirit, promoting cooperation, and building social relationships essential for community resilience during times of recovery.
This activity is part of the "Football for Peace" project, supported by the Catalan Municipality and FC Barcelona, and implemented in partnership with Novact Organization and Al-Bishara School in Erbil, along with international partners Casa Nostra Casa Vostra and La Caserna, as part of a joint effort to use sport as an effective tool for peacebuilding and the promotion of shared human values.

- حين ينتصر الحوار على التطرف, آفاق الوعي والتعايس في جامعة الموصل!

في إطار الجهود الرامية إلى تعزيز الوعي المجتمعي وترسيخ ثقافة الحوار البنّاء، نُظّم مركز متطوعي طوبزاوة جلسة حوارية بعنوان ، بالتعاون مع جامعة الموصل / كلية الآداب بجامعة الموصل / قسم علم الاجتماع بجامعة الموصل، وبمشاركة نخبة من أساتذة الكلية وعدد من طلبتها.

هدفت الجلسة إلى تسليط الضوء على مخاطر التطرف الفكري، واستكشاف أسبابه وآثاره على الفرد والمجتمع، فضلاً عن تعزيز ثقافة الحوار وقبول الآخر، بما يسهم في ترسيخ قيم الاعتدال والتعايش السلمي. كما شهدت الجلسة نقاشات ثرية وتبادلاً للأفكار والرؤى، ركّزت على دور المؤسسات الأكاديمية في بناء مجتمع أكثر وعياً واستقراراً.

يأتي هذا النشاط تأكيداً على الدور الحيوي الذي تضطلع به المؤسسات التعليمية في مواجهة التحديات الفكرية، وتعزيز قيم التسامح والانفتاح، بما يواكب تطلعات المجتمع نحو مستقبل يسوده الأمن الفكري والتماسك المجتمعي.

- When Dialogue Prevails Over Extremism: Horizons of Awareness and Coexistence at the University of Mosul!

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance community awareness and promote a culture of constructive dialogue, the Tobzawa Volunteer Center organized a panel discussion titled , in collaboration with the University of Mosul / College of Arts / Department of Sociology, with the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members and a number of students.

The session aimed to shed light on the dangers of intellectual extremism, explore its causes and impacts on both individuals and society, and promote a culture of dialogue and acceptance of others. These efforts contribute to reinforcing the values of moderation and peaceful coexistence. The discussion also featured rich exchanges of ideas and perspectives, emphasizing the role of academic institutions in building a more aware and stable society.

This activity comes as a reaffirmation of the vital role educational institutions play in addressing intellectual challenges and promoting values of tolerance and openness, in line with society’s aspirations toward a future characterized by intellectual security and social cohesion.

- فرحة العيد تصل القلوب الصغيرة، 300 كسوة ترسم البسمة على وجوه الأيتام!

قام مركز متطوعي المحلبية بتوزيع 300 قطعة من الملابس والأحذية ضمن حملة "كسوة العيد" المخصصة للأطفال الأيتام، بهدف إدخال الفرحة إلى قلوبهم ومشاركتهم أجواء العيد السعيدة.

وقد شهدت المبادرة أجواءً مفعمة بالبهجة والسرور، حيث ارتسمت الابتسامة على وجوه الأطفال وهم يتسلمون كسوتهم الجديدة، في خطوة تعزز قيم التضامن الاجتماعي وتؤكد أن العيد يكتمل بفرحة الجميع.

- Eid Joy Reaches Little Hearts: 300 Outfits Bring Smiles to Orphaned Children!

Al-Mahlibiya Volunteers Center distributed 300 pieces of clothing and shoes as part of the "Eid Clothing" campaign dedicated to orphaned children, with the aim of bringing joy to their hearts and allowing them to share in the happiness of Eid.

The initiative was filled with an atmosphere of happiness and excitement, as smiles spread across the children’s faces while receiving their new outfits. This step reflects the values of social solidarity and reinforces the idea that Eid is truly complete when everyone shares in its joy.

This initiative comes as part of a series of humanitarian activities carried out by Al-Mahlibiya Volunteers Center to support the most vulnerable groups and to promote a culture of giving and volunteerism within the community.

- من أجل استدامة عمل المجتمع المدني، حوار في الانبار لتعزيز الامتثال وتبسيط الإجراءات!

نظّمت منظمة جلسة حوارية تخصصية في الانبار بعنوان "الضمان الاجتماعي والتحاسب الضريبي بين الآليات والتحديات"، وذلك ضمن مشروع "تنسيق لتعزيز التفاعل بين المنظمات غير الحكومية والحكومة"، بدعم من صندوق الأمم المتحدة للديمقراطية.
شهدت الجلسة حضور ممثلي الحكومة المحلية وعدد من منظمات المجتمع المدني، حيث شكّلت منصةً تفاعلية لتشخيص المعوقات العملية واستعراض التحديات الواقعية التي تواجه المنظمات في التعامل مع ملفي الضمان الاجتماعي والتحاسب الضريبي. وتناول النقاش الأطر القانونية والإجرائية، والآليات المعتمدة، وأبرز نقاط التعقيد التي تؤثر في كفاءة الأداء المؤسسي للمنظمات.

وخلصت الجلسة إلى جملة من المقترحات العملية التي سيتم رفعها إلى الجهات ذات العلاقة، بهدف تطوير إرشادات واضحة، وتبسيط الإجراءات البيروقراطية، وتعزيز الشفافية، بما يسهم في خلق بيئة عمل مدني أكثر استقرارًا وكفاءة في العراق.

- In order to sustain the work of civil society, a dialogue in Anbar to promote compliance and simplify procedures!

organized a specialized dialogue session in Anbar entitled “Social Security and Tax Accounting: Mechanisms and Challenges.” The session was held as part of the project “Tanseeq (Coordination) Project for Strengthening NGOs Interaction With Government” made possible through support from the UN Democracy Fund.

The session brought together representatives of local government and a number of civil society organizations, serving as an interactive platform to identify practical obstacles and examine the real challenges organizations face in dealing with social security and tax compliance matters. Discussions addressed the legal and procedural frameworks, applicable mechanisms, and key complexities affecting the institutional performance and operational efficiency of NGOs.

The session concluded with a set of practical recommendations to be submitted to the relevant authorities. These recommendations aim to develop clear guidelines, simplify bureaucratic procedures, and enhance transparency contributing to a more stable and efficient civic work environment in Iraq.

This initiative underscores the importance of empowering civil society and fostering a supportive regulatory environment that ensures legal compliance while preserving the flexibility essential to humanitarian and development work, thereby strengthening effective partnership between the civic sector and government institutions toward inclusive and sustainable development.

لم يخلُ عملنا يومًا من الاهتمام بقضايا المرأة في العراق والعالم، إذ نؤمن بضرورة الوقوف على مسافة واحدة من الجميع لنُسهم بفاعلية في إنهاء العنف ضد المرأة وتحقيق المساواة بين الجنسين. ومع كل خطوة نخطوها، يبقى التزامنا راسخًا في الدفاع عن كرامة المرأة وحقوقها، وتعزيز حضورها في مختلف مجالات الحياة العامة.

في ظل التحديات الكبيرة التي تواجهها المرأة العراقية اليوم، لا سيما في سياقات الأزمات والنزاعات التي شهدها العراق خلال السنوات الأخيرة، ما زالت النساء يتحملن أعباء مضاعفة. فقد تعرضت الكثير منهن لمختلف أشكال العنف والانتهاكات، من التهجير القسري وفقدان سبل العيش، إلى العنف الأسري والمجتمعي، فضلًا عن التمييز الذي يحدّ من مشاركتهن الكاملة في صنع القرار.

كما لم تسلم الناشطات والمدافعات عن حقوق الإنسان من الاستهداف والترهيب، حيث واجهن حملات تشويه وتهديدات مباشرة وغير مباشرة بسبب مواقفهن المطالِبة بالعدالة والمساواة والإصلاح. ورغم هذه التحديات، واصلت النساء العراقيات رفع أصواتهن والعمل بشجاعة في ميادين المجتمع المدني، مقدمات نماذج ملهمة للصمود والإصرار.

وفي ظل هذه التوترات والظروف المعقدة، نقف اليوم تضامنًا مع المرأة العراقية؛ نُكرّم صمودها، ونعزّز أصواتها، وندعم حقها في الأمان والكرامة والمشاركة الكاملة في بناء مستقبل البلاد. فمن خطوط المواجهة في الأزمات إلى مساحات التمكين في المجتمع، أثبتت النساء أنهن شريكات أساسيات في صنع التغيير.

إن الاحتفال اليوم بيوم المرأة العالمي هو أيضًا مناسبة للتأكيد على ما تحقق من إنجازات بفضل جهود النساء والمنظمات النسوية والمجموعات والناشطات اللواتي ساهمن في إحداث تحولات مهمة في قضايا المجتمع المدني، وفتح مساحات أوسع للحوار والدفاع عن الحقوق.

كمنظمة نجدد التزامنا الثابت بمواصلة العمل من أجل مستقبل أكثر عدلًا وإنصافًا، مستقبلٍ تنهار فيه الحواجز أمام النساء، وتُصان فيه حقوقهن، وتزدهر فيه كل امرأة في العراق بحرية وأمان ومساواة.
Our work has never been devoid of engagement with women’s issues in Iraq and around the world. We remain committed to standing at an equal distance from all sides in order to contribute meaningfully to ending violence against women and achieving gender equality. At every step, our dedication remains firm in defending women’s dignity and rights and in strengthening their presence across all spheres of public life.

Amid the significant challenges facing Iraqi women today particularly in the context of the crises and conflicts the country has experienced in recent years women continue to bear disproportionate burdens. Many have been subjected to various forms of violence and violations, including forced displacement, loss of livelihoods, domestic and societal violence, as well as discrimination that limits their full participation in decision-making processes.

Women activists and human rights defenders have also not been spared from intimidation and targeting. Many have faced smear campaigns, harassment, and direct and indirect threats because of their courageous advocacy for justice, equality, and reform. Despite these pressures, Iraqi women have continued to raise their voices and work bravely within civil society, offering inspiring examples of resilience, determination, and leadership.

In the face of these tensions and complex realities, we stand today in solidarity with Iraqi women. We honor their resilience, amplify their voices, and support their right to safety, dignity, and full participation in shaping the future of their country. From the frontlines of crises to the corridors of empowerment, women have proven themselves to be essential partners in driving meaningful change.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day today, we also take pride in the achievements made through the tireless efforts of women’s organizations, feminist groups, and dedicated activists who have contributed to transformative progress across civil society and expanded spaces for dialogue, advocacy, and the defense of rights.

As We continue to work toward a more just and equitable future one where barriers fall, rights are protected, and every woman in Iraq can thrive in freedom, safety, and equality.

أقامت منظمة جلسة حوارية في محافظة نينوى ضمن إطار مشروعها "مبادرة: تعزيز بيئة تمكينية لمنظمات المجتمع المدني في العراق" المموّل من الإتحاد الأوربي، وبالتوازي مع مشروع "تنسيق لتعزيز التفاعل بين المنظمات غير الحكومية والحكومة" بدعم من صندوق الأمم المتحدة للديمقراطية.
هدفت الجلسة إلى تعزيز قنوات التنسيق والتواصل بين منظمات المجتمع المدني والحكومة المحلية، من خلال تشجيع مشاركة المنظمات في اللجنة التنسيقية المشتركة في نينوى، بما يسهم في بناء شراكة أكثر فاعلية لدعم العمل المدني وتحقيق استجابة أفضل لاحتياجات المجتمع.
وتضمّن الجزء الثاني من الجلسة نقاشًا تفاعليًا حول التحديات التنظيمية والإدارية التي تواجهها منظمات المجتمع المدني، ومن أبرزها:
1- التحديات المرتبطة بإجراءات التسجيل لدى الجهات الحكومية.
2- الصعوبات المتعلقة بدفع ضريبة الدخل والضمان الاجتماعي.
3- الفجوات في التنسيقبين منظمات المجتمع المدني والمنظمات الدولية.
4- قضايا الامتثال والتمثيل المؤسسي، بما في ذلك غياب جهة أو منصة تمثّل هذه المنظمات بشكل موحّد أمام الحكومة والجهات المانحة.
شارك في الجلسة ممثّلين عن الحكومة المحلية ونشطاء المجتمع المدني وممثّلين عن المنظمات غير الحكومية، حيث شاركوا في تبادل الخبرات وتسليط الضوء على هذه التحديات، بهدف تعزيز جهود المناصرة والعمل المشترك لإيجاد حلول عملية تسهم في تمكين منظمات المجتمع المدني وتطوير دورها كشريك أساسي في التنمية والحكم الرشيد في نينوى.
- Together for a Stronger Voice: Dialogue in Ninewa to Strengthen Coordination Between Civil Society Organizations and the Government!

UPP held a dialogue session in Ninewa Governorate as part of its project “Mubadara: Enhancing an Enabling Environment for Civil Society Organizations in Iraq,” funded by the European Union, and in parallel with the “Tanseeq (Coordination) Project for Strengthening NGOs Interaction with Government” made possible through support from the UN Democracy Fund.
The session aimed to strengthen channels of coordination and communication between civil society organizations and the local government by encouraging organizations to participate in the Joint Coordination Committee in Ninewa, thereby contributing to building a more effective partnership that supports civic engagement and ensures a better response to community needs.
The second part of the session included an interactive discussion on the regulatory and administrative challenges faced by civil society organizations. Key issues discussed included:
1. Challenges related to registration procedures with government authorities.
2. Difficulties associated with paying income tax and social security contributions.
3. Gaps in coordination between civil society organizations and international organizations.
4. Compliance and institutional representation issues, including the absence of a unified body or platform representing these organizations before the government and donor entities.
The session brought together representatives from the local government, civil society activists, and representatives of non-governmental organizations, who engaged in exchanging experiences and highlighting these challenges. The discussion aimed to strengthen advocacy efforts and joint action toward practical solutions that contribute to empowering civil society organizations and enhancing their role as key partners in development and good governance in Ninewa.

- Towards a More Sustainable Civic Environment: A Specialized Dialogue to Enhance Compliance and Streamline Procedures

organized a specialized dialogue session in Baghdad entitled “Social Security and Tax Accounting: Mechanisms and Challenges.” The session was held as part of the project “Tanseeq (Coordination) Project for Strengthening NGOs Interaction With Government” made possible through support from the UN Democracy Fund.

The session brought together representatives of the NGO Directorate and a number of civil society organizations, serving as an interactive platform to identify practical obstacles and examine the real challenges organizations face in dealing with social security and tax compliance matters. Discussions addressed the legal and procedural frameworks, applicable mechanisms, and key complexities affecting the institutional performance and operational efficiency of NGOs.

The session concluded with a set of practical recommendations to be submitted to the relevant authorities. These recommendations aim to develop clear guidelines, simplify bureaucratic procedures, and enhance transparency contributing to a more stable and efficient civic work environment in Iraq.

This initiative underscores the importance of empowering civil society and fostering a supportive regulatory environment that ensures legal compliance while preserving the flexibility essential to humanitarian and development work, thereby strengthening effective partnership between the civic sector and government institutions toward inclusive and sustainable development.

- حين يلتقي دجلة ببادوفا: الشباب يصنعون ويعزفون السلام عبر الثقافات !

نفّذ مركز أنطونيو بابيسكا لحقوق الإنسان - جامعة بادوا ومنظمة – UPP الإيطالية و بتمويل من قِبل وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي الإيطالية (MAECI)وبالشراكة مع مؤسسات محلية وفرق تطوعية في العراق، مبادرة فنية وثقافية تخللتها مأدبة إفطار، احتفاءً بالذكرى العاشرة لقرار مجلس الأمن رقم 2250 ضمن مشروع “الشباب والسلام والأمن في العراق وإيطاليا” في محافظة أربيل.

خلقت المبادرة مساحةً حقيقيةً للتبادل الثقافي والحوار العابر للحدود، حيث التقت الخبرات الأكاديمية بالرؤى الشبابية، وتداخلت الأصوات المحلية مع التجارب الدولية لتعكس روح الشراكة بين العراق وإيطاليا.

تضمّنت المبادرة كلمات رسمية لكل من منظمة جسر إلى، جامعة بادوفا، ومديرية الشباب والرياضة، أعقبها جلسات حوارية ناقشت: دور الشباب في صناعة السياسات العامة، التحديات والفرص أمام مشاركتهم الفاعلة، سبل تعزيز التضامن والشراكات بين الشباب والمؤسسات وأنشطة تفاعلية وفقرات موسيقية عكست تنوع الثقافات
واختُتمت الفعالية بإفطار جماعي عزّز أواصر التواصل وبناء الثقة وفقرات موسيقية فضلاً عن تقديم عروض تقديمية لشباب عراقيين وأجانب ساهموا بصناعة التغيير في بلدانهم.
شهدت الفعالية مشاركة طلاب دوليين من مختلف دول العالم، إلى جانب منظمات محلية ودولية، ونشطاء في المجتمع المدني، وممثلين عن الحكومات المحلية، وعدد من المهتمين بقضايا الشباب، في لوحة إنسانية أكدت أن السلام يبدأ بالحوار، وأن الشباب هم الجسر الحقيقي بين الثقافات.
- When the Tigris Meets Padua: Youth Creating and Orchestrating Peace Across Cultures!

The Antonio Papisca Human Rights Centre – University of Padua, in partnership with Un Ponte Per (UPP), and with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with local institutions and volunteer teams in Iraq, implemented an artistic and cultural initiative accompanied by an Iftar gathering. The event marked the 10th anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250, within the framework of the project “Youth, Peace and Security in Iraq and Italy” in Erbil Governorate.

The initiative created a genuine space for cultural exchange and cross border dialogue, where academic expertise met youthful visions, and local voices intertwined with international experiences reflecting the spirit of partnership between Iraq and Italy.

The program featured official remarks from Un Ponte Per, the University of Padua, and the Directorate of Youth and Sports, followed by dialogue sessions addressing: the role of youth in public policymaking; the challenges and opportunities for meaningful youth participation; ways to strengthen solidarity and partnerships between youth and institutions; as well as interactive activities and musical performances celebrating cultural diversity.

The event concluded with a communal Iftar that fostered connection and trust-building, alongside musical segments and presentations by Iraqi and international youth who have contributed to driving change in their respective countries.

The initiative brought together international students from various countries around the world, local and international organizations, civil society activists, representatives of local governments, and numerous stakeholders engaged in youth issues forming a human mosaic that affirmed that peace begins with dialogue, and that youth are the true bridge between cultures.
