The first page in Mosul founded to link the city of Mosul with the international community. We imitated the work in 2015 to bring on the truth from inside the city kidnapped by ISIS. Today, our task seems to be even more challenging, especially in absence of the city from the international highlight, we sought to work to send messages from Mosul to inform the world that the city of Mosul

is willing to extend a hand to the world, the city of Mosul is becoming a genuine part of the global society.

In Mosul, basements are integral parts of the old abodes, where temperatures are lower than in the upper parts of the house. This makes them optimal spaces for families to gather during the long summer days.

Basements have served as shelters during the city's past wars, where people stored their essential needs. Additionally, they operated as safe havens, providing families with the necessary settings to survive until the arrival of liberating troops.

Sadly, many families met their unfortunate destiny under the rubble while waiting for rescue teams that couldn't arrive on time. On the other hand, the people of Mosul are aware of the importance of basements due to memories of past wars.

Mosul is well-known for its moderate weather, making it an optimal space for year-round hangouts.

After the liberation, the city was blessed with peace, allowing parks and gardens to flourish.

Some of the parks are reserved only for families, making them safe areas to stay in until midnight.

In Mosul, having an early breakfast outdoors is becoming increasingly popular. Street food, known for its authenticity and deliciousness, is a hallmark of Mosul.

Following the liberation in 2017, Mosul has experienced an unprecedented level of security, ushering in a new era of prosperity and stability. Businesses have thrived, and life has permeated every corner of the town, including the once ruthlessly bombed areas. Today, these areas sparkle with hope, welcoming visitors at any time to sniff the aroma of the past and be inspired by the vibrant present.

For over a decade after the US-led invasion of Iraq, Mosul bore the intense impact. During that time, nightlife faded, and darkness became infested with crimes and plagued with terror, ultimately leading to ISIS conquest due to security failures and life's deterioration on every level.

Today, nightlife has been reclaimed, and hope has been retrieved by determined humans who, despite all tragedies and wars, refused to lose hope, remained clutching onto the ledge of life despite the brisk winds.

Prophet Seth Mosque in Mosul is believed to house the shrine of Prophet Seth, the third son of Adam and Eve in Abrahamic mythology. He is the only other child of Eve mentioned in the Bible.

In 2014, following the ISIS conquest, the mosque, along with other mosques of a similar nature, was destroyed due to the fanatical belief that mosques should not be built upon shrines.

For the locals, the mosque holds significance beyond religious boundaries, serving as a landmark from which the surrounding neighbourhood derived its name.

Shortly after the liberation in 2017, the people of Mosul didn't wait for governmental efforts to reconstruct the mosque; instead, they mobilised funds to rebuild this historic site in an effort to preserve their identity

The Grand Mosque's perimeter is deemed to be the heart of old Mosul thriving in peace and blessings for its being a central location in town adjacent to the main marketplace of Suq Al Sha'ariin and Al Faruq Street.

The Grand Mosque of leaning minaret "hunchback" had been a cultural centre for centuries until the ISIS conquest in 2014 that resulted in blowing off the mosque.

The adjoining alleys were affected by the blast. In 2018, the work of rehabilitation has commenced. Currently the UNESCO program of reviving the spirit of Mosul is resurrecting the Mosque and its perimeter.

Coffee VS Tea

Here is the coffee industry that has been thriving over the years in Mosul materialised in the Serhan Coffee store - lies in the corridors of Bab Al Sa'raai marketplace - which is brewed fresh with deep taste.

In recent years, coffee has commonly been sipped on, instead of tea that had been the primary hot drink in Mosul for decades.

Often coffee was reserved for formal occasions such as funeral services and tribal sessions, which had been served black, unsweetened to demonstrate the tone of the overall climate.

Coffee stalls and mobile cafés are becoming another trait in town, disseminated spanning the walkways, rush marketplaces and parks.

This is one of the emerging businesses that was ensued upon the era following the war, such as liquor stores.

Bab Al Sa'raai

One of the old "Suq" in Mosul that makes the main historic home for multi-disciplinary bazaars and here emerges in the picture the Suq of coppers.

Under the ceiling of this marketplace, careers are acquired traditionally and often being inherited and given from fathers to sons.

The last unfortunate events of turmoil and wars have cast a heavy shadow on this market. It had been entirely ruined.

However the market today has arisen from ash, standing strong, flicking its dust and warmly embracing life.

Thanks to the people of Mosul who have primarily contributed to Bab Al Saa'ari's resurrection.

The Clock Church - Mosul

Here is the sign of coexistence, which is a genuine characteristic that features our society despite all what happened in the recent years in which vulnerable groups in society were targeted regardless of their beliefs. This is the case when security is absent, influential parties tend to expand by exerting power on smaller communities.
