Roberto Piazza leads Iran’s volleyball revival

Italian coach Roberto Piazza, one of Europe’s most respected volleyball managers, oversees a training session of Iran’s national volleyball team at Tehran’s Azadi Sports Complex as preparations continue for the 2026 Volleyball Nations League. Since taking charge in 2024, Piazza has guided a new generation of Iranian players through challenging circumstances, including the Volleyball Nations League campaign during the second imposed war. Following the end of the Ramadan war, he became the first foreign coach to return to Iran and resume work with his team, a move widely viewed as a sign of his professional commitment to the long-term development of Iranian volleyball.
