But critical study means evaluating something thoughtfully, honestly and responsibly.
It does not mean blindly celebrating any attack on Zionists.
It does not mean sanitizing Hamas’ Oct. 7 terror attacks as “resistance.”
And it does not mean treating the language of a terrorist organization as a writing guide.
If the institute’s own director thinks openly celebrating Hamas’ Oct. 7 massacre is acceptable, then the institute cannot be trusted as a serious academic project.

1,000 days ago, everything changed.

Our sense of security was shattered.

We witnessed atrocities no one thought possible in the modern world.

We believed the nightmare would end.
That there would be a day after.

Instead, October 7 became 1,000 days.

Days of trauma piled upon trauma.

Of reservists leaving their families behind, again and again.

Of children learning the sound of sirens before they could understand the word war.

Of communities trying to rebuild while still fighting for their survival.

Of standing on the battlefield and the home front.

Of begging the world to listen.

Of fighting to be heard.

Of watching people question, deny, excuse, or ignore what happened.

Of waking up to the words:

“Allowed for publication.”

And knowing another family had just received the news that would change their lives forever.

Grief after grief.
Loss after loss.
Front after front.

And still, resilience.

1,000 days later, we are still waiting for what should have come long ago:

The chance to heal.

At WIZO, we see what these 1,000 days have done — to children, to families, to women, to communities.

And we know that when the day after finally comes, Israel’s healing will take all of us.

But healing does not wait for the war to end.

It begins now.

In every child we help feel safe again.
In every family we help hold together.
In every woman we help rebuild.
In every community we refuse to let break.

Because October 7 is not a single day.

It is 1,000.

And counting.
