Mehr News Agency (MNA), as a semi-official media was officially launched with Farsi (Persian) and English language services on June 22, 2003. As a matter of development and based on the will of clients, Arabic language service was also introduced on January 4, 2004. Also Urdu, Turkish, Russian and Germany languages were added to the international service later on.

MNA was the host agency of the OANA 31st Executive Board Meeting (EBM) and the 25th Editorial-Technical Experts Group (ETEG) Meeting held in Tehran from November 13 to 17, 2009. The event was attended by over 40 representatives of 18 governmental and non-governmental news agencies from the Asia-Pacific states. MNA was highly honored for its active cooperation and great contribution to the Tehran’s meeting by the OANA president and representatives of the member states. MNA also seeks bilateral relations with other news agencies all over the world and has signed MOUs with some so far. It is willing to have more contracts with others on mutual bases in all professional news fields.
