We are now booking for February onwards! A five room professionally designed and treated studio recording to multitrack tape, digital, or a mixture of both. It is within the bustling art centre in the remote East Fjords of Iceland. Sun-lit live room, beautiful upright piano, synths, guitars, drum kits and endless sonic toys to devour! Plus if you record with us you get a 10% discount on our short-run record cutting services. You can even record a project 100% analog then cut it to record 100% analog. DAMN!
What's more is you can get 25% of all recording and travel costs refunded through the initiative.

The phono lab continues to operate in these cold winter nights! We just finished a run of LPs for Icelandic Artist Bjarn! We are seeing more and more how much we need the variable pitch control system. With moderate to heavy bass and sub-bass we are having to be very careful that grooves don't touch or even worse, overcut. And on an LP it is a battle for real estate on the surface. The variable pitch will adjust the distance between adjacent grooves as we cut the music, so louder parts will be given more space while quiet passages can cut fine with closer grooves.

We are really excited to see the very limited edition EP from Tom Vamos (IRL/Liverpool) now available for pre-order on his bandcamp page! Recorded to 4-track cassette in a kitchen in Liverpool, then mixed here and cut to vinyl all fully analog. He then hand printed all the sleeves with each being unique. We will soon have a few stocked in our micro-vinyl-store here in Stöðvarfjörður.
He's doing a release show on 22nd November at Round the Corner in Liverpool with support from The Welcomed Addition, Again Again, and Rob Clarke.

It's not often these days that we find time to do fun audio experiments, but last weekend I hung up this kitchen extractor hood inside a massive old radio transmitter cabinet. After being rather impressed by the immense reverb from this mundane steel box the plan now is to install it as one of Studio Silo's reverb devices, alongside our EMT plates and spring reverbs. It actually sounds really impressive on certain sources, with .audio exciters to input the sound and piezo discs for reverb recovery. Gotta figure out a way of varying the decay time as the tail right now can be as long as ten seconds (!). Any ideas most welcome 😁
