That means second Oscar-qualifying award for Playing God — and the first-ever 🇮🇹 Italian animated short to win at this festival, that’s crazy.
Oh man, this was wild omg… 11 days of pure madness in NYC 🗽🌀 with the Playing God crew — and this is the result… we straight-up broke New York!

Playing God just won Grand Jury Award & Best Stop Motion at Animayo International Film Festival 2025! 🏆
This means… we’re officially Oscar qualified for the 2025 Academy Awards! 🤯🎉

The International Jury was chaired by Aubry Mintz, Executive Director of ASIFA-Hollywood.
The Grand Jury Prize and Best Stop Motion Award went to the Italian short Playing God, praised for its “bold and daring narrative, rarely seen in the animation landscape.”

“In this 9-minute short crafted with puppets, clay, stop-motion, and pixilation, a sculpture awakens in a dimly lit workshop surrounded by bizarre creatures. A haunting reflection on life, creation, and the unknown, the film stands out for its artistic precision and emotional depth.”

Playing God in the International Competition at Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) – International Festival of Animated Film from May 6–11, 2025!🚀
🎥The short film will be screened in the category “International Competition 4” on Friday, May 9 at 8:30 PM and again on Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 PM.
👉We’re excited to announce the “Studio Presentation” event on Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 PM at the Festival Centre, where two animation studios – and Nukufilm OÜ – will focus on stop-motion, presenting their companies and showing how to combine state-of-the-art technology with a handmade look!

We’re over the moon for this huge and incredibly important recognition awarded by the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists (SNGCI) since 1946.

❤️We dedicate this award to all of you — to everyone who has supported us throughout the years and during these intense months of taking the film around the world.
