The project is developed from the reinterpretation of the cloister, evoking the typologies of Christian tradition, serving as a central space that symbolized a focus on contemplation and faith. The dialogue with the existing is established through current guidelines for interventions in historical sites, preserving their authenticity, being clearly distinguishable, ensuring reversibility through the use of lightweight materials, and respecting the remnants of history.

What truly makes an island an island is not merely its "presence" in the midst of the sea but its unique "ontology" that relates land and sea, represented by the horizon: the seashore. We propose a project that transforms this oil platform into a "true island", returning it to nature by focusing on the design that encompasses both above and below the sea's surface. By minimizing human intervention and maximizing the role of nature and time, we aim to create an "artificial nature" where all living beings can coexist.

These objects are supposed to be used on the seabed, aiming to reconstitute the substrate on which marine biodiversity can thrive. By scattering them also on the platform we wish to suggest an analogy between life above and under the surface.

Life is about living and remembering. Living requires energy. Remembering requires a storage. Oil platforms, considered unnatural, only need to be converted into another role in order to be seen as natural, suppliers for living to gatekeepers for memory. A data center can store human history, activities, and records.

Cultural heritages are something to be protected. Therefore, they have always been kept in storage where they can maintain good condition. The idle space of the oil platform is a difficult space for people to visit, but thanks to these spatial characteristics, it can be a place for physical protection from the outside and a base for the ecosystem.The oil platform will be transformed into a repository that gives way to the ecosystem while firmly preserving Italy's precious assets.

Pockets of volumes are inserted into the rig with parts elevating to the sky or sea. Each block carries a set of programs that interact with its specific surroundings. All of this is intertwined with a central courtyard that’s punctured by a cylinder that connects the sea to sky via a spiral stair. The formation of blocks and programs creates a new city that’s floating a shore.

360 positions itself as a transitional solution during a pivotal period of human civilization. Offshore oil platforms represent an era when humanity abused of their natural ecosystem without regard to the subsequent consequences. Much like in nature itself however, most great acts of creation begin with the excessive release of energy and matter.
