Our movie Woodwind will screen here at "Casa di paglia" at the foot of the castle of Canossa, Italy on Saturday, 20 July at 10pm.

"Sentieri di Suoni" and "E-venti di terra" have selected the film to be their cinematic experience in this year's program, where they normally focus on art festivals in the woods and nature.

Our film soundtrack composer Stefan Fraunberger will perform his original music from Woodwind live at the event.

There is no fee for attending the screening and live music performance. All welcome.

Special thanks to director Fin Manjoo, assistant producer Ivana Nešković and the festival's Alessio Mesto Arena

"A few days after I watch the movie I clearly hear the sounds of nature at a higher volume, and I wonder whether I'm imagining the sounds from the film but then I realise this is actually the real nature (not the film) wherever I go. To me this is one of the most satisfying accomplishments of the movie, in that the theories of the 'music' of sound isn't just intellectual mumbo-jumbo we hear the sound and music artists coin but this experience truly occurs when an artist heightens the senses of the audience to be able to perceive the world in new ways, the way the natural world was meant to be sensed, to heal us through these sights and sounds, and for me this is the obvious purpose of art, or at least the art in Woodwind.

"As the days pass by and I'm bombarded by the sights and sounds of my machines, unfortunately, I filter out the natural sights and sounds of the world.

"When I first screened the film I used to wonder if this experience was an illusion due to my personal involvement in the movie, but then whenever I watched Woodwind much later, after detuning myself for months, the same effect occurs... and when I remember those people who blamed me that they kept hearing the heightened sounds of nature a week later... I knew the intention of the sound in the film worked.

"This power is not because of me. When we speak of a filmmaker there's often this attachment of the ego of the artist but I'm just taking a cup and filling it with spring water and handing it to you. I haven't created the mountain, the skies, the earth or the spring." Writer-director of Woodwind, Fin Manjoo

Is Bonifaz in Cape Town?
What happened to Bonifaz at the end of Woodwind in India? Does this prove that he returned home?

No, it's Woodwind director Fin Manjoo who's slipping into Bonifaz's clothes for the first time.

This is the costume Leandro Taub wore for Bonifaz in India during the movie Woodwind, and here it is making an appearance at the exact location where Bonifaz said goodbye to Alina on the rocks back home.

Fin Manjoo SAYS GOODBYE TO CAPE TOWN WITH EMOTIONAL FINAL SCREENING OF WOODWIND

Fin speaks about Friday night's screening of his movie as the most satisfying of all his art exhibitions.

"I've screened at Cannes (my first production which wasn't a big deal), at the best festivals in South Africa and the likes of India; and last night's screening of Woodwind at the Fish Hoek Civic Centre was most essential.

"After the wonderful screenings of Woodwind at Cinema Nouveau and Nu Metro, the experience at Friday Film's was truly special with an attendance that's 10x higher than all the other so-called former art cinemas. These were real passionate cinephiles so nobody was taking selfies on red carpets at this film gathering which watches outstanding films every Friday. Then after the screening, a score of enthusiasts were discussing minute details of Woodwind in a stimulating and honest exchange from the stage to the door, with intricate connections to every movement - that truly impressed me."

Fin surprised the movie group by attending the showing of Woodwind with this complementary exhibition with Friday Films, because he was motivated to discuss art and not make business, so after two hours of poetic images and sound which heightened audience sense and perception, the viewers were inspired to ask many questions to the director.

Friday Film's English host Richard Lowndes stated that Woodwind is a film which Peter Greenaway would be proud of, connecting some of the movie's qualities to the works of Terence Malick and David Lynch. Though, Fin explained that any connections to other filmmakers were only coincidental as primarily originates from himself.

After the screening Fin discussed his cultural origins and how it led to the birth of his music composer character, Bonifaz and his journey in India.
