Preparing for the IARU Field Day (portable operation as IC8JAH/P)—a great outdoor experience, though it's a shame I don't have fellow enthusiasts to join me. Equipment: Yaesu FT-450 radio, long-wire antenna (10/15/20/40m), 90 watts output power, powered by a 60Ah battery charged via a 100W solar panel. Software: Quartest. After a 25-year hiatus, IC8JAH and IC8SDL are resuming activations of the fortifications on the island of Capri; for the occasion, they are starting in October with one of the most important sites: the Orrico Fort (DCI reference NA-112).

The Orrico Fort is located at Punta del Miglio in Anacapri. It was built by the British in 1806 as a watchtower and artillery post. On October 4, 1808, it was the site of a surprise landing by French forces led by General Lamarque, who wrested the island from the British.
