It’s been a week since we joined “Type and Architecture” at UNIFI University of Florence by DIDA
Three days celebrating 80 years of AIAP through talks, workshops, and shared visions on how typography and architecture build identity, memory, and the experience of urban space.
For Zetafonts, it was a special stop of the Typetour, right next door to our studio in Florence.
In the morning, our workshop explored the dialogue between humanist and geometric sans, tracing parallels between Bauhaus rationality and the freedom of human gesture. Each student had the chance to experiment with calligraphic letterforms and create a small handmade booklet, a tangible memory of the day.
In the afternoon, and took the stage with a talk diving into the stories hidden inside every letter, and how type connects people, places, and ideas. They shared twenty years of typographic exploration and projects: from typefaces born in sketchbooks and friendships, to collaborations with festivals, magazines, and global initiatives like Fight for Kindness.
It was truly a pleasure and an inspiration to listen to the contributions of Silvana Amato , who reminded us that writing always has a form, and Silvia Dore .design , who invited us to see how letters inhabit and shape the spaces we live in.
Thank you to DIDA for hosting us, and to everyone who shared with us this typographic experience made of curiosity, dialogue, and design ✨
