Taking inspiration from the greats of the past is at the core of any art form. This concept is reflected in the program of the 2025/ 2026 chamber music season of the Amici della Musica Firenze and is representative of Andrea Lucchesini’s tenure as the Artistic Director.

The varied and exciting programme at the 17th century Teatro della Pergola reflects how this season honours both newer and more mature talent. At its core it celebrates the musical landscape, both those who have changed it and are changing it.
Guest artists include Antonio Pappano, the principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, and Luigi Piovano (pictured) who will interpret compositions by Brahms and Rachmaninoff on the piano and cello.

Florence woke up on Friday, October 3, to the sound of 10,000 demonstrators (including the governor of Tuscany) condemning the Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip and in favor of the diplomatic recognition of a Palestinian state.

Concurrently, transport workers (train, bus and tram) are striking from 2:30 pm to midnight.

Another goal of the protest is to call attention to the fact that the Flotilla — 42 ships bringing food and medicines to Palestinian people — has been seized by Israeli soldiers in international waters 70 miles from Gaza. Of the passengers, 46 are Italians, including four members of Parliament.
