📢 Press Release 🌍
To: Somali Federal Government 🇸🇴
United Nations Mission Office in Nairobi and Somalia 🌐
It has come to our attention that Hassan Abdikadir Mohamed, the Southwest minister of internal affairs, is undermining peace and stability in the Dinsoor district. Despite his recent attempts to pacify the area, the minister has resorted to forcibly transporting darwish forces from the southwest of Baydhabo district to be deployed in Dinsoor.
Furthermore, it has been revealed that Mr. Hasan Baydhabo, the Somali National Army commander of the 60 divisions alongside the minister, has been fueling the conflict in Dinsoor by providing financial support and weapons to the Mirifle geledle militia. This militia is currently waging an interclan war against the innocent people of Dinsoor city.
Their aim is to capture the city, supporting geledle clan militias to expand and gain control in Dinsoor city, which the local people are against because the geledle clan militia is affiliated with the Baydhabo administration and consists of the same clans as Mirifle, while the Dabare clan are Digil.
Disturbingly, it has been reported that the minister is utilizing UN planes to transport troops from Baydhabo with the intention of massacring the waran mataay security forces, who are responsible for maintaining the security of Dinsoor and have been defending the city from Al-Shabaab for the last two decades.
We want to make it clear to the federal government of Somalia and the United Nations that any problems arising in Dinsoor are the direct responsibility of the expired president Abdiaziz Hasan Mohamed Laftagareen and his ministers.
We, the Digil community elders, intellectuals, and advocates based in Nairobi, condemn these actions and call for immediate intervention to restore peace and protect the innocent lives of the people of Dinsoor. Already, over 2000 civilians have been displaced in the conflicts.
If United Nations airplanes are used to deploy darawish forces from Baydhabo, they will be shot down as it is not safe, and the responsibility will be held by the Southwest state leaders.
This press release is issued by Digil Community elders, intellectuals, and advocates based in EU Nairobi, Kenya.
