GLAUX

GLAUX Glaux Records takes its name from the owl (glaux), the bird sacred to Athena in ancient Greece. Glaux Records is guided by the expertise of its founders.

The word glaux also describes the shining colour of Athena’s eyes – a symbol of clarity, learning, and insight. For us, it reflects a way of approaching music: thoughtful, attentive, and always in dialogue with knowledge. Our work grows out of a conviction that the centre of any musical project must be the composer and the composition itself. At Glaux we believe that artists shine most brightly wh

en they place their skills and imagination at the service of the score, bringing the music to life through insight, technique, and sensitivity. The catalogue of Glaux develops along three closely connected paths. A first area focuses on repertoire that is rarely performed or on familiar works presented in ways that distinguish themselves for interpretative refinement. A second strand is dedicated to keyboard music of every period and instrument, exploring its richness across centuries. A third opens onto those moments when art music has intersected with folk traditions, generating unexpected beauty. Stefano Aresi brings a precise artistic direction and a discerning eye for collaboration, shaping the choice of repertoire and performers. Andrea Friggi contributes his acclaimed technical mastery, ensuring that each recording reflects the intellectual and artistic vision of the project. Together, they cultivate a label where research and interpretation coexist, where performers engage deeply with composers’ intentions, and where every release embodies thoughtfulness, refinement, and respect for the music.

"Stile Galante opted for an approach in which meticulousness and historical insight predominate. (...). The texts steer towards a musically light, elegant, almost conversational style, in which expression, rhetoric, and ornamentation are essential. The vocal cast is rich and varied, resulting in a charming palette of colors: sopranos and mezzo-sopranos alternate, while the contralto adds a dark sheen that carries Rolli's texts well. The diction is clear and the phrasing careful (...)"

"Andrea Friggi emphatically opts for clarity, structure, and control. His phrasing is carefully defined, the ornamentation remains functional, and the rhythmic profiling is nowhere exaggerated. (...) an interpretation in which stylistic discipline and architectural clarity constantly prevail."

"A niche label in the best sense of the word. While there may not be a revolution, anyone wishing to broaden their musical horizons beyond the beaten path will find a surprisingly adventurous guide in Glaux Records."

A very positive review for Andrea Friggi's Hesse recording and some very nice remarks on our activity on Opusklassiek!

"The songs (...) do possess a certain charm. Much of this is due to the assured direction of someone with a solid artistic background and to the effective performances by the group of soloists (...) An interesting curiosity indeed." (SCHERZO, May 2026)

"This theatrical and dramatic quality is skillfully emphasized by the effective direction of Samuele Lastrucci and just as effectively conveyed by his ensemble I Musici del Gran Principe, which makes its debut with this recording (...) The excellent performances of the solo singers deserve special mention. The anguish with which Valeria La Grotta approaches Olimpia abbandonata by Netti is spine-chilling. Together, the singers complement and contrast each other excellently (...)A fine disc, without a doubt." (Scherzo, May 2026 - Mariano Acero Ruilópez)

Congratulations Valeria La Grotta Mauro Borgioni I Musici del Gran Principe Samuele Lastrucci for this first enthusiastic review of GL002 "Farina, Venere e Marte"!
