📍 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 “𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞”?

Airports. Shopping malls. Train stations.

Places we pass through every day, yet rarely feel connected to.

According to French anthropologist Marc Augé, “non-places” are spaces of contemporary life defined by transience, anonymity and the absence of meaningful relationships. Environments designed to be used rather than truly inhabited.

This idea became the starting point for Non-Places, the new album by the 𝐁𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢 𝐕𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐢 𝐉𝐚𝐳𝐳 𝐄𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞.

Through their music, composers 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐁𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢 and 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚 𝐕𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐢 invite us to reflect on themes that increasingly shape our lives: loss of identity, cultural homogenisation, social isolation and the gradual disappearance of communal spaces.

A project that seeks not to provide answers, but to open questions.

🔴 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐎𝐍-𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐒 🔴

We are delighted to announce the upcoming release of Non-Places, the new album by the 𝐁𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢 𝐕𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐢 𝐉𝐚𝐳𝐳 𝐄𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞, led by Italian composers 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐁𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢 and 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚 𝐕𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐢.

At GleAM Records, we are always looking for artists with a distinctive voice and a clear artistic vision. With Non-Places, we found two composers who embody exactly that spirit: a new generation of European writers approaching contemporary orchestral jazz with courage, imagination and remarkable artistic depth.

Working across Denmark, Germany and Italy, Anna and Laura have developed a project that combines refined composition, sonic exploration and a thoughtful reflection on contemporary society. The result is a powerful and visionary work inspired by the concept of the “non-place” and expressed through the language of modern jazz.

We can’t wait to share this music with you.

📺 𝐑𝐀𝐈 𝟓 — 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐓𝐈 𝐉𝐀𝐙𝐙: 𝐃𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐆𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐎𝐍

We are delighted to share that Dexter Gordon is featured in the ninth episode of Notti Jazz, now available on RaiPlay.

🔗 Watch the episode:
https://www.raiplay.it/video/2026/04/Notti-Jazz—S1E9-6bbd9b92-6a91-416a-b4d7-adac73eb2526.html?wt_mc=2.www.cpy.raiplay_vid_NottiJazz

Produced from an idea by Claudio Rizzo and directed by Marco Odetto, Notti Jazz brings back to life extraordinary performances, interviews, backstage moments and rare archival footage from the history of jazz, preserved in the Rai archives.

This episode is dedicated to Dexter Gordon and features his performance at the legendary Music Inn in Rome on May 10, 1981—just two months before the concert recorded in Genoa and released on More Than You Know.

Even more fascinating, Gordon appears with the same quartet heard on the album:

🎷 Dexter Gordon – tenor saxophone
🎹 Kirk Lightsey – piano
🎻 David Eubanks – double bass
🥁 Eddie Gladden – drums

A rare opportunity to experience the same extraordinary ensemble captured on July 7, 1981 at the Estate Jazz Festival in Genoa.
