One of the most incredible mountain train rides in Switzerland, taking you from Brienz all the way up to Rothorn Kulm at 2,351 meters.
Things to know before you go👇🏻
✨Tickets:
Return ticket: CHF 98 per adult
Seat guarantee: +CHF 8 (mandatory)
We booked ours online in advance through the official Brienz Rothorn Bahn website.
✨Best seats:
Going up: sit on the left side, away from the locomotive.
Going down: sit on the right side, away from the locomotive.
✨The journey:
The ride takes around 1 hour each way and the historic steam cog railway has been operating since 1892. At the top you’ll find several viewpoints, walking paths and a mountain restaurant with amazing views over Lake Brienz and the Alps.
‼️Good to know:
The gates open around 30 minutes before departure and seats are not numbered so arrive early if you want to choose your preferred side and spot.
We took the 9:40am train and stayed around 2 hours at the top, which gave us enough time to enjoy the viewpoints without rushing.
