/// 10 years ago I was shooting the Jing'an Temple from from a pedestrian bridge used by many photographers as the best spot to take a picture of this iconic Shanghai landmark. A few weeks later, the administration added walls to prevent photographers from gathering on the site, precisely to block this magical view.

/// Walking the streets of Bangkok at sunset means being drawn to the rich religious architecture and its lights, sometimes dim to invite spiritual enlightenment, sometimes dazzling to attract attention.🔆🔆🔆

In any case, away from the tourist spots, you can find little gems like this temple gate whose bright lights paint the asphalt red and blue. 🔴🔵

/// A lighting design reveals the structure of the Five-Storied Pagoda which is part if the Asakusa Temple in Tokyo, Japan.

The Five-Storied Pagoda was first built in 942 by military commander Taira no Kinmasa. Tokugawa Iemitsu had the old national treasure rebuilt, but it was burned to the ground during the Great Tokyo Air Raid on March 10, 1945. It was rebuilt in 1973 with donations from devout believers around the nation. Busshari (Buddha’s ashes) were given as a gift from the royal temple of Sri Lanka.🙏

Officially called  Sensō-ji, the Asakusa Temple is Tokyo's oldest and one of its most significant Buddhist temples, dedicated to Kannon, the goddess of compassion, drawing millions annually.👘

The entire area is characterized by a gentle use of light, contrasting with the aggressiveness of some modern and central parts of the Japanese capital.🏮🏮🏮

The lights accentuate the traditional architectural structures and respect the religious atmosphere that permeates the entire temple area, despite the large influx of tourists.🛍

/// Dan Flavin's "Untitled (to Donna) 5a" (1971) at in Paris, France.

Dan Flavin uses light to alter the physical perception of space, in a manner typical of Minimal art.

Flavin works primarily with fluorescent tubes to create luminous paintings that challenge the traditional definition and boundaries of the artwork. This corner sculpture references the paintings of the Russian Constructivist Kazimir Malevich, whom Flavin considers "icons." The neon lights illuminate not only the space defined by the tubes but also the area where the viewer moves, thus altering the defined space, which becomes immaterial.

/// With its retro style and large neon sign, P*ssy's nightclub caught my attention during a midnight stroll through the Pigalle neighborhood in Paris.🌙

The neighborhood lies at the foot of Montmartre and is a popular tourist destination in the French capital.🗼

It was once known as the red-light district and home to numerous nightclubs, cabarets and s*x shops. 🪭🏮🎎

📃
Today, only a few businesses remain that recall the thousand colored lights that once characterized it, but it's still worth a visit for lovers of this kind of placee where you can feel at the edge of two eras. 🧭💡

/// Situated at the entrance to the Siemens headquarters in Munich, right at the Oskar-von-Miller-Ring, The Wings sculpture by architect and artist Daniel Libeskind represents a new visual point of reference on the new central link between the city center and the “Kunstareal” (art district). 🏯📐

Through its shapes and its lighting design that interacts with the modern architecture of the building, this piece of art becomes a landmark of the German city. ✨

On the front of this harmonious sculpture, embellished with a blue light, an animation of the Siemens logo is projected, making the work more dynamic and underlining the demand that Siemens places on itself: to make a creative contribution to shaping the future and technological progress. 🔌🖱

In combination with two more pieces of The Wings, which are located at Siemens’ largest site in Erlangen and at the Berlin location where Siemens was originally founded, this group of sculptures symbolizes an ‘innovation bridge,’ linking these milestone locations in the history of the company with the world.📿🌏

/// I want to celebrate the end of this year with a great gift that - also known as Frodo Alvarez - wanted to give me when we met in Madrid during this year's 🚆✈️

I had the opportunity to attend a light painting session we did, together with , in a very special location: a quarry with rocky walls painted by artist , in the north of the Spanish capital. 🌃

At the end of the session, Frodo invited me to become the subject of one of his photographs which are embellished by his light art. ✨✨

I found myself surrounded by colored lights that he waved dinamically around me by him.🪐💫

Being part of one of his works fills me with pride and brings me so much joy. These are feelings I hope to amplify over the next year. ✌😊

Happy New Year to everybody!

/// Today I met with researcher and project manager Anders Thorseth from Danmarks Tekniske Universitet - DTU at their Risø headquarters. 🏠

We discussed LED lights and how light research can improve the products we use every day, thanks to a series of laboratory tests and measurements.📐

During our conversation, it immediately became clear how light is part of our daily lives, even when it doesn't seem so. 🙃
