JUST IN: Asari Dokubo Replies Primate Elijah's Claim That Igbos Are The Problem of Nigeria
Many people blame the IGBOS for Nigeria's issues. But let's think about this. Are IGBOS responsible for the violence against Northerners in the northeast, northwest, and north central? No. Are they behind the attacks on Yoruba people in Kwara and other Yoruba regions? No. Are they the ones harming people in the South-South or South-East? No.
IGBOS are not the Fulani herdsmen, bandits, terrorists, or jihadists causing chaos across the country. They are not in charge of Nigeria either. The president isn't Igbo. The Senate president isn't Igbo. The Speaker of the House isn't Igbo. Key military positions? Not held by IGBOS. Even the NNPC chairman is not Igbo.
In the South-South and Niger Delta, crude oil bunkers aren't run by IGBOS. Illegal gold miners in the north? Not IGBOS. Did IGBOS take Ilorin from the Yoruba? No. Did they conquer Hausa and other tribes in the north? No.
In fact, most federal offices in the current administration are filled by Yoruba people. So why are IGBOS labeled as Nigeria's problem? It boils down to jealousy. Some see IGBOS as better, which sparks resentment.
IGBOS express a desire to leave Nigeria, and that frustrates others. They may dislike IGBOS, yet they rely on them for survival. If Nigeria is to improve, IGBOS need to be recognized and treated fairly. As long as hate persists, Nigeria will only worsen.
The truth? Nigeria's problems lie within Nigeria itself, not with the IGBOS.
