Italy's Red Moon: A Total Lunar Eclipse
It has been three years since the last total lunar eclipse visible from Italy, which occurred on May 16, 2022. The most recent event, on February 14, 2025, was not visible as it occurred at 6 AM when the Moon was setting. After this eclipse, we will have to wait until December 31, 2028, to once again observe the red Moon. A lunar eclipse occurs when our natural satellite passes through the Earth's shadow cone, created by its interposition between the Sun and the Moon.
