The artwork "Blu" (1986) by Agostino Bonalumi stands out for its precise exploration of space and form. On a deep blue monochrome surface, the artist adds regular reliefs that create a rhythmic pattern. These extended geometric shapes, similar to blades, rise from the canvas and suggest a dialogue between light, shadow, and volume. The optical illusion produced by the interaction of relief and color turns the painting into a sculptural object rather than a traditional one. A key figure in programmed art and spatialism, Bonalumi pushes beyond the boundaries of conventional painting, turning the canvas into a perceptual experience.

In this small artwork, Balla concentrates all his research on the dynamic transfiguration of reality. The artwork represent a concept: movement in space, speed as visual energy. There is no recognisable scene, no identifiable figure: everything is reduced to curved lines, overlapping directions, chromatic shifts that suggest continuous, almost quick movement. In full harmony with Futurist thinking, Balla exalts modernity, technical progress and kinetic energy as the foundation of contemporary life.

In this 1954 work, Rotella explores the expressive potential of decollage, using fragments of posters glued onto cardboard to create a torn, textured surface laden with visual layers. The composition appears chaotic and lacking a center, dominated by earthy tones and marked by abrasions, wrinkles, and tears that evoke a sense of urban decay. The remains of red writing emerge as residual traces of lost communication, rendering the content illegible but evocative. Rotella does not construct the image but discovers it, selects it, and reveals it.

The artwork, created between 1960 and 1963, belongs to the early phase of Jannis Kounellis' artistic research. During this period, the artist, while remaining attached to painting, began to break with traditional conventions. He developed a simplified visual language based on signs and symbols, anticipating his future explorations in Arte Povera. The work has a strong graphic impact, with thick black signs on a white background. The dense, textured brushstrokes accentuate the visual power of the composition. The result is reminiscent of a sign language or urban signage. The image imposes itself on the viewer with clarity and formal rigor. It is an example of the transition from pictorial art to a more essential and conceptual visual communication.

“Piccolo, medio, grande” (1981) is part of the Biro series, in which Alighiero Boetti uses ballpoint pens as an expressive tool.
The work consists of three panels made with uniform red hatching, saturating the surface. Each panel contains a linguistic proportion that can be reconstructed by relating the blank commas to the letters of the alphabet, which are also white and arranged on the side of the panel.

The work is created with torn and overlapping pieces of printed paper, creating a chaotic and fragmented composition. Bright red, curved black shapes, and remnants of figurative images, perhaps cinematic, dominate, with touches of yellow. The torn edges and worn paper evoke the passing of time and the energy of the city. Unlike cubist collage, which adds, décollage subtracts: Rotella reveals hidden layers and transforms tearing into an artistic and critical gesture towards the dominant visual culture. ✨

The artwork "Superficie" by Enrico Castellani, fits perfectly into the formal and conceptual experimentation of the 1970s. It is a dark, monochrome canvas with small raised points arranged in a diagonal line. These shapes are not random—they are created by a hidden structure underneath the canvas that pushes and pulls the surface. When light hits the raised areas, it creates shadows and reflections that change depending on the viewer’s angle, making the work dynamic and always shifting. The use of acrylic gives the surface a smooth and even finish, enhancing the sculptural effect. The composition is simple but rhythmic, turning the painting into a spatial and sensory experience.

This work on canvas is an emblematic example of De Maria's gestural painting. Caffè is characterized by its expressive use of color: vibrant reds and blues combine in abstract forms full of energy. The gesture is free and fluid but not casual. A The title Caffè alludes to an everyday moment, to a convivial dimension, but in the work every figurative reference is abolished. In this work, color and form symbolize the spirituality and intimacy of the artist. ✨

In this artwork from 1936, Jean Fautrier condenses his material research with scratches and blue-green glazes in just a few centimeters. Overlapping layers of pigment, withish, green and blue streaks combine with each other.
The frame, made by the artist, becomes an integral part of the work.
It is an intimate and radical fragment, in which the emotional charge of the "Otages" is already suggested. 🎨✨

In "La Danse des Jars", Aldo Mondino takes inspiration from oriental traditions.
The bright colours of the costumes contrast with the earthy, neutral tones of the background, creating a balanced and dynamic composition. With a light and playful style, the two characters reflect the artist’s perspective, celebrating movement as an expression of identity and cultural memory. ✨
