Contained, beautiful, and absolutely consuming, encountered with distance, Steve Piccolo’s stunning "Domestic Exile", originally released in 1982, stands with the absolute best of its era, and outsteps a great deal more.
Unquestionable among the greatest, and least recognised LPs to emerge from the No Wave scene.

Well, it was virtually impossible to stop Kiki from pouncing onto the Ahti & Ahti album: she too, just like us, seems to feel a magnetic attraction to this beautiful release 😍

Ouidah is thrilled to present "Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear?", the debut LP from the Turku, Finland based duo, Marja Ahti and Niko-Matti Ahti.

Astoundingly diverse in its materiality, and visionary in its structures and approaches, Ahti & Ahti’s Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear? encapsulates a new, holistic form of avant-gardism, drawn on a deep sense of humanity and forward thinking experimentation, which seamlessly addresses a multiplicity of meanings within sound and the act of creation. Bristling, tense, and immersive, the LP presents a sonorous body within which the hand of the artists becomes increasingly obscure. A perfect proof for Ouidah’s guiding directive that great art often springs from unexpected geographies, Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear? is issued in the imprint’s signature monochrome triangular sleeve, a Nagaoka anti-static record sleeve, and complete with an insert

Few projects can claim the seminal importance of the Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza. Their 1975 album on Cinevox Record, arguably the rarest artifact in their catalogue, is still thrilling and surprising nearly half a century after it was first released. It comes in a fully remastered version with new sequence / structure as per recently discovered original tapes.

Copies purchased from Soundohm also include an exclusive 30x30cm 12-page booklet with never seen before pictures and essays / texts which delve deep into the album, its story and its newly restored form.

Trust it’s the lick. Do not sleep on this! (https://bit.ly/355X0bj)

Most likely one of the finest Blume reissues to date, it represents the uncovering of a genuine lost gem, Winfried Mühlum-Pyrápheros' Musica Nova Contemplativa.

Originally issued in 1970, this stunning creationof its era has, until now, remained among the rarest artifacts works of musical minimalism - echoing idiom’s roots in Fluxus and the raw temperaments of artists like Tony Conrad and Henry Flynt, threaded with touchstones in the work of Eliane Radigue, Giacinto Scelsi, and Jani Christou.

50 years later, it still sounds like nothing else...

The definitive Doubling Riders box set with a load of previously unreleased material is finally here. Complete discography, remastered from the original tapes. 6 x CD boxset includes 1 disc of previously unreleased material, plus 24-page booklet of liner notes and never-before-seen photographs. A long overdue immersion in overwhelmingly singular creativity and collaboration, this one is as essential as they come.
Emerging during the early 1980s - a high point of Italian experimentalism, The Doubling Riders began as a collaboration between musical heavyweights, Francesco Paladino and Pier Luigi Andreoni, who were soon joined by Riccardo Sinigaglia of Futuro Antico fame, and an evolving, diverse cast of international voices - Pascal Comelade, Ira Stein and Vox Populi, etc. Flirting around the outer edges of ambient music, outright experimentalism, and New Wave, while bending electronics with numerous folk touch-stones, during the 80s and early 90s. There’s never been anything like this band -- http://bit.ly/2Q6nAea

Over the last few years, with its stream of stunning releases, delving into the outer reaches of sound art, poetry, and experimentalism, the Los Angeles based imprint, Recital, has been hard to miss - a true force, shining light into the shadows of the past and present alike, saving incredibly important, but often sinfully neglect work from a lesser fate. This tradition stands with their latest release, the first retrospective LP of Richard Rip Hayman all too often overlooked artist, sonic voyager, sailer, and founding editor, with Beth Anderson and Laurie Spiegel, of Ear magazine.

Dreams of India & China, drawn from a body of work which has lain dormant for over 30 years, recorded from 1975-1986, represents the beginning of necessary and long over due recognition and change.

** The N*gger Series (2 x LP Special Edition) / Ltd Repress ** The tale of Julius Eastman is a thing of tragic beauty - a mutant child of bigotry, bad luck, and the archetype of Van Gogh, laid as heavy shroud across one of the most remarkable musical voices of the late 20th. For decades, following his untimely death in 1990, his name remained lost to all but the few who knew him, his music, almost entirely unreleased, scattered to the wind by tragic circumstance.

If it hadn't been for the efforts of a tiny handful of friends and believers, the most notable of whom being the composer Mary Jane Leach, tireless championing his work, dedicating years to tracking down his lost scores, this gaping hole in the history American music would have likely remained.

We've just received very limited repress of these stunning recordings of the composer's most important works for piano. All narrative aside, this is music which stands the test of time and conquers fate - beautiful, shimmering, challenging efforts which rethink the definitions of minimalism, imbued with the dark depths depths of complex and remarkable mind.

It’s little wonder that Julius Eastman (who died in 1990 under unexplained circumstances), remained the supreme underground composer. He was Afro-American and gay, a composer who rocked the cerebral world of process music with his explosions of free improvisation.

His seminal extended pieces for four pianos, Gay Guerrilla, Evil Ni**er and Crazy Ni**er (making up what Eastman called The Ni**er Series), all written and preformed in the late 1970s are now reissued on vinyl for the first time ever. Available as individual LPs and a special bundle edition, 180gr Audiophile pressing, with extensive liner notes by Mary Jane Leach and Bradford Bailey and exclusive photos by Christine Rusiniak.

In the most transcendent sense, it's music that occupies its very own place, a magical soundworld all of its own

Released by die Schachtel in collaboration with Archivio Storico Ricordi and Fondazione Archivio Luigi Nono, the Luigi Nono Composer 'Musica Manifesto N. 1' edition is the first ever repress of this seminal work.
Originally issued in 1969, none of Luigi Nono’s works illuminate this radical consciousness and concern better than release. It is a revolution led by one man – a window into the creative and political potential of sound. An astounding, immersive, and thought proving body of sound, which remains as relevant today as the day it was made.
Issued in three editions: LP, CD, and a super deluxe Art Edition of 100 copies, with: LP pressed on a Clear Red Vinyl + CD + a tabloid with info + large poster + an additional 72-pages large-format Book in Italian end English by dinamomilano on the poster art of France’s May’68, lavishly designed and printed on ivory pulp paper.

It’s always hard to pick favorites, but Introducing Tony Conrad is unquestionably one the most exciting books to emerge this year - filled with revelation, insight and surprise, finally offering Conrad the attention and recognition he’s always deserved.

Tony, who we tragically lost in 2016, was a friend to a great many of us - a relentless, joyous spirit who never stopped working, fighting, or towing the line. Endlessly supportive of the young and old alike, he reminded us what was possible, what experimental practice was all about, showed us the way, and drew our line in the sand. An unparalleled survey of his work in painting, sculpture, film, video, performance and installation, this one is as essential as books on experimental practice come.
