Lazy Dog Press

Lazy Dog Press We produce exquisitely designed books of exceptional works in the fields of visual culture. We believe in quality: think spaghetti sauce.

We believe in books: their physicality, sensuality, authority, and beauty. We believe in printed matter, in smelling the ink, in touching the paper, in holding something precious in our hands, in not worrying about recharging batteries. If the primary ingredients aren’t select, your sauce will be mediocre. If you use sweet ripe tomatoes and extra-virgin olive oil, chances are the sauce will be del

icious. We opt for the latter: the memorable experience. We believe in projects that offer new perspectives, whether they are small reflections or life-long achievements. We believe that the role of a publisher is to guide rather than follow markets, trends, and tastes. Lazy Dog Books are available in fine and specialized stores, both online and offline.

Throwback | Alfabeti Modernisti — Book Launch
11 dicembre 2025

“Vida detenida” brings together a series of photographs taken by Pedro Almodóvar in a domestic, intimate space: moments of solitude and quiet contemplation.

Away from the film set, Almodóvar performs a deeply pop gesture: transforming everyday objects (glasses, flowers, plates, utensils) into small secular altars charged with memory and desire. These are not simple still lifes, but ‘arrested lives’: objects that retain vitality, respond to light, and shift over time.

Shot without post-production, these images seek emotion rather than perfection. As Almodóvar writes, “What interests me is the ecstasy of the moment, staying alert and capturing the emotion of the instant.” A fragile, vibrant tension runs through every photograph, turning the beauty of the everyday into something sacred, precarious, and never merely comforting.
