“1917” — Archivio delle Ombre

Cassis Records introduces Archivio delle Ombre, a new long-term project devoted to the preservation, transformation and re-imagination of forgotten sounds.

Its first chapter, “1917”, takes archival recordings and fragments of the Italian musical past as its raw material. Through manipulation, repetition, deterioration and reconstruction, these traces are transformed into six new pieces — not as an attempt to restore the past, but to imagine what might still be hidden within it.

1917 exists somewhere between an archival document and a fictional memory: music from another time, altered by distance, decay and imagination.

This is the beginning of an archive that will continue to grow, moving through different periods, materials and forgotten fragments of the twentieth century.

1917 is available exclusively on Bandcamp, as a name-your-price release.

Today we’re proud to introduce "Archivio delle Ombre", a new long-term archival music project released through Cassis Records.

Its first chapter, 1917, explores the afterlife of recorded sound by transforming archival recordings and historical materials into imagined sonic documents, suspended between memory, history and fiction.

Rather than reconstructing the past, 1917 proposes an alternative archive: incomplete, unstable and haunted by the persistence of forgotten voices.

The album is available exclusively on Bandcamp as a name your price download, so you can support the project in whatever way you feel is appropriate—or simply listen.
