Dian Suci Wins the 10th Max Mara Art Prize for Women

Dian Suci has been announced as the winner of the tenth edition of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women, promoted by Max Mara, Collezione Maramotti and Museum MACAN, under the curatorial direction of Cecilia Alemani. The award supports emerging and mid-career female-identifying artists through a six-month residency across Italy, culminating in new commissions and solo exhibitions.

For the prize, Suci presented Crafting Spirit: Cultural Dialogues in Heritage and Practice, a project examining the relationship between spirituality, religious craftsmanship and capitalism through a comparative study between Italy and Indonesia. Rooted in her wider practice exploring domestic narratives, patriarchy and political power, the project investigates how ritual, manual labour and collective memory survive within systems shaped by commodification and globalisation.

Her residency will unfold across Assisi, Rome, Lecce and Florence, before culminating in solo exhibitions in Jakarta and Italy in 2027.

Ca’ Riviera Launches in Venice as a New Cultural Destination

Opening in conjunction with the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, Ca’ Riviera is conceived as a year-round platform for exhibitions, installations and residency programmes. Rooted in the Venetian territory while engaging with an international network, the project fosters dialogue between local context and global perspectives.

Its inaugural exhibition, ‘The Shape of the Self / La forma del Sé’, brings together works by Leonor Fini, Cecilia Granara, Yves Scherer, Chiara Capellini and Sedef Gali, tracing evolving notions of identity through a dialogue between twentieth-century avant-gardes and contemporary practices.

Through this opening programme, Ca’ Riviera positions itself as a new cultural destination, a space where heritage and contemporaneity intersect, extending beyond the temporal boundaries of the Venetian art calendar.—read full article via 🔗 in bio

Man Ray Takes Over an Old Barbershop in Milan

Spazio Morgagni presents ‘Cœur à barbe’, an exhibition dedicated to Man Ray and curated by Giorgia Aprosio. Bringing together multiples, lithographs, photographs, films and artist books from Galleria Gió Marconi, the project explores the artist’s position between Dada and Surrealism.

The title references ‘Le Cœur à barbe’ (1923), the publication conceived by Tristan Tzara during a period of growing tension within the Parisian avant-garde, which culminated in the historic split between Dada and the Surrealists gathered around André Breton. In the exhibition, the title also refers to the venue itself: a former barbershop that still preserves its original 1960s interiors.

The display begins in the storefront beneath the original Gino il Barbiere sign, where key works such as Autoportrait avec moitié barbe and the iconic Cadeau introduce the project. Inside, Le Retour à la raison (1923), Man Ray’s experimental short film created through rayography, is shown alongside photographs and publications centred on the female figure.

Founded in 2025 by Wiliam Purita, Spazio Morgagni positions itself as a platform for research, dialogue and contemporary collecting.

Milan Design Week 2026
What we’re seeing at Fuorisalone

For the 2026 edition, Fuorisalone once again places Milan at the centre of the global design scene, transforming the city into a widespread platform of exhibitions, installations and encounters running alongside Salone del Mobile. From 20 to 26 April, districts and institutions across Milan will host a programme reflecting the most urgent directions of contemporary design: bio-based materials, collectible design, craftsmanship, new domestic scenarios, emerging talents, and dialogues between physical and digital worlds.

This year’s theme, Be the Project, invites audiences to reconsider design not as a finished object, but as a living and evolving process. It positions design as an attitude shaped through experimentation, responsibility and exchange — where intuition meets matter, and ideas grow through testing, error and transformation.

Developed as the latest chapter in Fuorisalone’s ongoing thematic trajectory, the concept follows previous editions focused on space, future, nature and connectivity, arriving now at a more human-centred perspective. Here, value lies not only in outcomes, but in the act of making itself: a slower and more conscious practice rooted in dialogue between people, materials and cultures.

The theme also addresses the relationship between human creativity and artificial intelligence. Rather than opposition, Be the Project proposes coexistence — where algorithmic systems and human sensitivity interact to generate new possibilities.

Ultimately, Fuorisalone 2026 frames design as an ethical and poetic tool: capable of shaping more sustainable, inclusive and imaginative futures.

Milan Design Week 2026
Inside 5VIE: Cavallerizze Highlights

For its 2026 edition, 5VIE Design Week presents QoT – Qualia of Things, a theme that shifts attention from the logic of the Internet of Things to the emotional and sensory power of objects. Rather than focusing on data, efficiency and connectivity, QoT explores how design can generate subjective experiences, memories and personal resonances. Each object becomes a carrier of feeling, shaped by both maker and user. In a world increasingly suspended between technology and biology, 5VIE reaffirms the importance of perception, touch and inner experience, positioning design as a language that reconnects form with human sensitivity.

PARIS INTERNATIONALE MILANO MUST-SEE

From 18 to 21 April 2026, Paris Internationale Milano launches the first edition of the fair outside France, taking place at Palazzo Galbani on Via Fabio Filzi. Positioned between the opening days of Milano Art Week and Milano Design Week, the project introduces an international platform dedicated to experimental and forward-looking contemporary art.

Bringing together 34 galleries from across geographies, the Milan edition remains faithful to the fair’s distinctive curatorial identity: an independent format in which emerging artistic practices enter into dialogue with more established research. The result is a space of exchange shaped by multiple generations, sensibilities, and perspectives within the current art landscape.

Rather than prioritising scale, Paris Internationale Milano focuses on ambitious and carefully considered presentations, often centred on one or two artists. Each booth is conceived as a fully developed exhibition project, encouraging slower and more attentive forms of viewing. Works are allowed to enter into direct conversation with one another and with the space’s architecture.

Through this approach, the fair reinforces its commitment to quality, experimentation, and critical dialogue, while offering Milan a new meeting point for galleries, artists, collectors, and audiences during one of the city’s most dynamic cultural weeks.

Milan Design Week
A Secret Teahouse Above Milan — CROMO

Atop the 25th floor of Torre Velasca, one of Milan’s most iconic Brutalist landmarks, CROMO unveils a temporary, nomadic teahouse during Milano Design Week 2026. Conceived as a one-time activation, the project occupies the rooftop and penthouse, marking both the launch of a new tea brand and the beginning of a series of itinerant experiences set to unfold across the city.

Positioned at the intersection of health, design, and culture, CROMO rethinks tea as a contemporary ritual. Moving beyond habit, it foregrounds time and wellbeing, drawing on centuries-old traditions to restore tea’s role as a practice of balance, clarity, and connection. Its “high-frequency” blends—crafted from carefully sourced botanicals from regions including China, Japan, and Kenya—emphasise purity, potency, and sensory impact.

The installation transforms Torre Velasca into a space of pause within the intensity of Design Week, inviting visitors into an environment dedicated to slowing down. Supported by Madison House, which will establish its permanent presence in the building later in 2026, the intervention also represents a final public moment for this historic site—before it transitions into a new phase as a private destination.
