As 2025 gains momentum, the Asia-Pacific yachting scene is evolving. Once dominated by Hong Kong, the region is now seeing fresh waves from emerging markets like Indonesia, Vietnam, and Hainan, each carving out their place on the global yachting map.
• Hong Kong: Slowing demand as infrastructure and political headwinds take their toll.
• Indonesia: A maritime paradise awakening, with new marinas and international brands investing in its 17,000-island archipelago.
• Vietnam: Rising fast, with Ha Long Bay welcoming its first charter superyacht.
• Hainan, China: Transforming into a tax-free free trade port with growing yachting infrastructure.
• Taiwan: Quietly flourishing as both a builder and destination, with record crowds at its 2024 Boat Show.
«We have to work together with the yachting organisations and the local authorities to make everybody conscious of the positive influence of yachting and high-end tourism connected to yachting on the economic development of Hong Kong». - Luca Cristino, who recently joined Simpson Marine as executive chairman following the company’s sale to Sanlorenzo.
The next chapter of Asia-Pacific yachting is about shifting power bases, untapped cruising grounds, and bold new players.
