In a statement shared on his social media platforms, explained the reasons behind his departure from Miss Universe:
"I want to clarify and share with all of you that, three weeks ago, after fulfilling my mission within the Miss Universe pageant, I made the decision to step down from my role as advisor to the organization. This was not a decision taken lightly, but rather a step I felt necessary after reflecting on what I had accomplished and what I envision for the future.
While it’s true that I’ve decided to step aside, it’s also true that now, more than ever, there’s still plenty of Osmel to go around. My affection for Miss Universe and my commitment to beauty and the development of new generations remain intact. This experience has given me invaluable lessons that I will carry with me always.
Being far from my Venezuela—and even more so, living completely alone at this stage of life—led me to deep reflection. At this point in my journey, I felt the need to be surrounded by loved ones who have always stood by me, supported me, and understood me through both good times and difficult ones. That is why I’ve decided to return to my homeland, to that place that has always given me the strength to move forward.
During my time at Miss Universe, I had the privilege of working alongside great friends and professionals, and I am deeply grateful for everything I’ve learned. I’ve witnessed firsthand the beauty of teamwork, the dedication, and the passion that everyone brings to this pageant. To all those who were part of this experience, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, respect, and support.
My departure from the organization is not marked by any conflict—it is simply the closing of a chapter that had already fulfilled its purpose. I thank Mr. Raúl Rocha and Ms. Paulina for their understanding
