More than an extension of the historic South Kensington museum, V&A East Museum is a new cultural hub rooted in Stratford, at the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Inaugurated in April 2026, it marks the new focal point of the V&A’s presence in East London.

The architecture is by O'Donnell + Tuomey. Rather than a conventional museum, they conceived the building as an urban sequence: multiple entrances, integrated public spaces, a vertical circulation that turns the visit into a spatial journey.

Inside, the permanent Why We Make galleries offer a non-linear reading of the collection. Objects, narratives and perspectives in dialogue, developed with the V&A East Youth Collective - positioning the museum as a site of co-creation, not just display.

Until January 3, 2027, the museum is hosting the exhibition The Music is Black: A British Story, which traces the influence of Black British music from 1900 to the present day through archival materials, photography, fashion, and sound installations.

On the Rocks is the new collection by Venini and Peter Marino , set to officially debut at Milan Design Week. These two creative minds have pushed glass beyond its traditional boundaries, transforming it into an ultra-contemporary, architectural and almost glamorous form. Blending a ‘power’ aesthetic with artisanal savoir-faire, the new lighting collection features a sculptural base made of Zimbabwe black marble that supports one or more hand-blown Murano glass cubes.

Cassina presents its new Outdoor Collection. The chosen theme, 'Oasis of Now', explores the concept of an outdoor area that can be enjoyed as an extension of the home, in harmony with the natural surroundings. New additions include the Vidalenta system by Patricia Urquiola and an updated version of the Eloro Outdoor system by Dordoni Studio. Minor fluctuations and consistent trends characterise the new top hotel projects currently under construction. Across Europe, 2,525 hotels are in the design or construction phase, which is a 3.8% decrease on last year. The Middle East also saw a 4% decline. Meanwhile, the Far East remains the market where the sector’s largest investments are concentrated, and continues to grow.

House of Santal, New York's first gallery entirely dedicated to collectible design from South Asia, opens at Rockefeller Center. Founded by Raksha Sanikam, a New Yorker of Indian origin who left finance for a career as an interior designer in Bangalore, it aims to elevate traditional craftsmanship to a global level. The inaugural exhibition, At the Threshold of the Courtyard, brings together 13 Indian designers and studios and highlights the values of “material intelligence, durability, care, and intentionality in production” that characterize contemporary South Asian design.
