This week's New Music Friday takes you from a Viennese stage to the heart of winter. 🎶

🎭 Don Giovanni, K. 527, Act I: Aria "Madamina, il catalogo è questo"
Brilliant, theatrical, and provocative. Giacomo Nanni brings Leporello to vivid life with the Orchestra da Camera Canova, his full rolling voice drawing you straight into Mozart's opera. First single from a complete recording of the Prague version.

🎻 The Gadfly, Op. 97: Prelude
Two cellos carry the melody like a bittersweet song of remembrance. Mikael Samsonov and Arseny Kotlyarevsky lead Metamorphose String Orchestra through Shostakovich's Prelude in a new arrangement by Pavel Lyubomudrov, a smile on your lips and an ache in your chest.

⚡ Impulsion
Sudden bursts of energy, small sparks that push the music forward without warning. Uladzimir Mironchyk builds each impulse into the next, the piece constructing itself moment by moment, almost by instinct.

❄️ Vivaldi: The Four Seasons - Winter
Relentless, immersive, and ice-cold. Elli Choi and Orquesta Reino de Aragón dedicate an EP entirely to Winter, Choi's bow conjuring whipping winds while the orchestra builds a sonic blanket of cold around you.

Andrea Castagna and Lorenzo Bavaj trade melodies like close friends who listen closely to each other. Warm, tender, and quietly luminous.

🌨️ Etude, Op. 25: No. 6 in G-sharp minor, 'Thirds'
Paolo Ceccarini turns Chopin's famous double thirds into something hypnotic and whispered, stripping away technical display to reveal raw emotion and quiet winter mystery.

One hill in Bavaria. One visionary composer. One theater built for a single purpose: to bring his music to life exactly as he imagined it. 🎭

On 13 August 1876, 150 years ago, Wagner raised the curtain on the first Bayreuth Festival, premiering the complete Ring cycle in a space so carefully conceived that the orchestra plays unseen and the sound seems to rise from everywhere at once.

Today the festival remains one of the most extraordinary pilgrimages in all of classical music. 🎶

Celebrating 150 years of Bayreuth.

Violin and piano chase each other in a spirited exchange, neither settling for accompaniment. Andrea Castagna and Lorenzo Bavaj carry that push and pull with real energy, bright and driving.

❄️ Etude, Op. 25: No. 11 in A minor "Winter Wind"
Glacial, precise, unrelenting. Paolo Ceccarini lets the virtuosity serve the cold, the melody cutting through even sheets of snow while the bass moves like slow ice beneath it.

🕊️ I Almost Fly
A solo piano piece suspended between fear and surrender. Wasylla traces the fragile sensation of almost touching the sky, holding the listener in a pause where something deeply personal quietly unfolds.

💃 Poetica del Tango
A restless ostinato that seizes the feet before it reaches the heart. leads each step from a frenzied whirl into melancholy, then anger, then resignation, closing with one last defiant flourish.

This week's playlist comes with a storm warning. New Music Friday is here 🎵

⛈️ Vivaldi: The Four Seasons "Summer"
Choi's violin doesn't carry a melody, it screams. Orquesta Reino de Aragón and Elli Choi deliver Vivaldi's Summer Presto without warning, chased, overwhelmed, terrifying in its beauty. It leaves you stunned in the silence that follows.

🎻 Violin Sonata in F major, K. 547
Playful, warm, and full of light. Andrea Castagna and Lorenzo Bavaj trade phrases like old friends sharing a private joke, part of their ongoing complete Mozart violin sonatas project.

🥁 Ngoma
Hypnotic rhythms, tribal pulse, and a warm electronic glow. Berlusa's Ngoma draws you into a meditative dance, the kind that unfolds slowly, like a perfect sunset at the end of a long day.
