Starting today and until October 26, 2025, the volumes LOVING and LOVING II will “take over” the Civic Brera newsstand (Corso Garibaldi 83, Milan), where the books will be available for purchase.

The photographs in the two volumes, published by 5 Continents Editions, are part of the collection of Hugh Nini and Neal Treadwell and bear witness to the love stories of male couples over the course of a century. Taken in the United States and elsewhere between 1850 and 1950, they have been preserved as mementos of tender and passionate moments that still speak to us today of the universality of love.

In addition, on October 23 from 6 p.m., publisher Eric Ghysels and Laura Leonelli — journalist, curator, and author of one of the texts in the volume — will present this visual narrative, followed by a book signing. Don’t miss it!

« Fabienne Verdier travaille à haute voix, dans la solitude de son atelier : ses pensées trouvent leur forme singulière lorsqu’elles sont émaillées d’exclamations, d’interrogations ou de points de suspension. Il faut, dit-elle, laisser au lecteur la faculté d’interprétation ; sculpter dans ce matériau foisonnant les articulations essentielles, (...) Reconnaître la précarité d’une formule, c’est lui garder son caractère provisoire, quelle que soit sa force. (...) Un art de se taire, de l’interprétation retenue, rythmée de blancs typographiques qui sont autant de silences éloquents.
