Morning Bell Edition

We are a publisher which aim to keep alive the art of books as pieces of true artisan craftsmanship.

We print with a manual proof press dating back to the early 20th century and the books will be bound completely by hand.

We’re grateful to share that, with more than a month to go before launch, Kickstarter already loves us.

After Pinocchio and Frankenstein, we’re getting ready to begin a new adventure together, deep into the jungle, with Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book.

Our new publication will be The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling.
Illustrated by Brighe
Only 451 copies worldwide.
Soon on Kickstarter.

Printing Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus

This video shows the complete screen-printing process of one of Marino Neri’s illustrations for our edition of Frankenstein: four colors, printed one layer at a time using natural pigments, with the prints resting overnight in the press between stages.

The video has been sped up 5× — the actual process takes quite a bit longer!

Four colors. Four layers. One illustration.

The coloring phase has officially begun as well.
As is only right, we’re starting with the endpapers. The first color added through screen printing, using exclusively natural pigments, is spirulina (a type of algae), more precisely its protein, which releases an intense blue hue. This will in fact be used as one of the colors of the aurora borealis illustrated by Marino Neri for the endpapers.
