We have decided to complete the collection of works conceived at Villa Diodati during the Year Without a Summer. A new book joins the campaign: The Vampyre by John Polidori together with The Fragment by Lord Byron, in a limited edition of 250 copies.
We are publishing The Vampyre in its original 1819 form, exactly as it appeared in its first standalone edition. This choice reflects our approach to Frankenstein, since the 1819 text is a fundamental part of the story’s history and of the night that gave birth to these legendary works.
The book will have a turquoise blue leather cover, hot stamped in bright red and dark gold, with a cut-out revealing the endpaper pattern. It will be printed in silver letterpress on black paper, 64 pages, measuring 23 × 15.5 × 1.5 cm.
Inside it will feature two full-page illustrations and a double-page endpaper by the Italian artist Grazia La Padula. Grazia La Padula is a comic artist and illustrator. She debuted in France with Le jardin d’hiver and later published Les échos invisibles with Tony Sandoval. Her work has appeared in Linus, Delcourt, L’Espresso, La Lettura, Rolling Stone, Feltrinelli, Jacobin, Mondadori and Il Castoro. Her most recent book is Itinéraire d’une garce, published in Italy by Oblomov in 2024. She teaches comics at IED in Rome.
We have also created a special box designed to hold Frankenstein together with The Vampyre and The Fragment, allowing you to keep the entire Villa Diodati collection in one place. The box measures 32.5 × 44.5 × 8 cm.
