Giuliana in Naples

Giuliana in Naples 🇮🇹 I live in the place you've been influenced to visit. Sharing the version of Italy the algorithm isn’t showing you.

First-gen Italian-American, six years living outside Naples, ten years in influencer marketing analytics.

Part 3 of my Shiba and I getting attacked by an off-leash pitbull Sunday evening. I’ll close by saying this… it is your responsibility as a pet owner to ensure the safety of your animal and those of the people/animals around you by leashing your dog. If you cannot guarantee that, you have no business leaving the house. Take care of your pets, take care of those around you. And let’s not wait for a tragedy to happen before changing our ways. Be diligent and kind to those around you.

Part 2 of getting attacked by an off-leash pitbull in Italy last night.

Your dog is your responsibility. And if you’re attacked by an off-leash animal in Italy, call the police - you have rights.

🫶🏼The first post told you why I came. This one tells you why I stayed.

🧳 Six years ago I arrived with a suitcase, a cat named Berlioz, and no actual plan for what came after.

💍 I got married not long after arriving. But, it wasn’t right, so we divorced. I could have gone back to New York.

I didn’t.

🐕 In the middle of all of it, I got a Shiba Inu named ABBA. He is the best decision I made in Italy after deciding to stay.

🐈‍⬛ Berlioz has survived all of it without once expressing sympathy. They reluctantly cohabitate.

🇮🇹 I now live near Naples with my boyfriend, work US hours remotely, and spend the rest of my time documenting what’s happening to the place I
love. From inside the industry making it happen.

💌 This is what six years actually looks like.

❓What made you stay somewhere you almost left?

🚗 You rented a car. You drove on the Amalfi Coast’s SS163. Your plate was even. The date was odd. Police checkpoint. You weren’t getting through.

⚠️ Italy’s main Amalfi Coast road — the SS163 from Positano to Vietri sul Mare — runs on a restriction system called targhe alterne. Odd-numbered date: only even-plate cars. Even-numbered date: only odd-plate cars. Enforced by police checkpoints, 10am to 6pm, during peak season. Scooters and motorcycles are completely exempt.

🏨 One exemption that matters: hotel, B&B, and agriturismo guests are exempt on arrival and departure days. Carry your booking confirmation.

🇮🇹 I’ve lived outside Naples for six years, and I drive here. 🤪The ANAS ordinance is published every April - link is in the comments.

❓Have you ever been caught by this without knowing it?

The same 7 hooks are behind almost every piece of Amalfi Coast travel content you've ever been served. Once you know them, you can't unsee them.

I've lived in Naples for six years and I work in influencer marketing — which means I see this coast twice. Once through the content that promotes it, and once through the reality of actually being here. They don't always match.

So I spent a week documenting every post the algorithm served me about the Amalfi Coast. Same spots. Same visual style. Same psychological triggers, over and over. What I found wasn't random. It's a system.

Swipe through — and tell me in the comments which of these you've seen in content that influenced your own travel plans.
