This hilltop gem in Puglia stole our hearts with its maze of whitewashed streets, historic spires, and that authentic Italian charm you dream about. From golden hour at Piazza della Libertà to intimate aperitivos in hidden alleyways, Ostuni is pure magic.

The Sant'Oronzo Column standing tall, friendly cats lounging in ancient doorways, poetry written on stone steps, those breathtaking rooftop views, and so much more, makes you fall in love with over and over again 🇮🇹

Not Puglia’s most famous city. But maybe it’s most real. Worth the day trip.

Simple things to do in Ostuni 🇮🇹

Wine, good food, exploring the old streets, and slowing life down.

Sometimes the best travel memories aren’t big bucket-list moments, they’re the small ones: morning coffee, trying new food, or finding a quiet corner to enjoy where you are. ☕🍕🍷

If you ever make it to Puglia, don’t rush, Ostuni is best enjoyed slowly. 🤌🇮🇹

Turn your volume UP for this one. No music, no filters, just the real sounds of Ostuni, Italy’s “White City” as we lived it.

DAYTIME: Narrow white-washed alleys so tight that when a motorcycle came through, we couldn’t believe it would fit (spoiler: it did, barely 😅)

Then the church bells ring as the sun sets. This is when you realize why Ostuni is magical. The sound echoes through the stone streets, calling everyone to the piazzas.

NIGHTTIME: The town completely transforms. Street musicians set up in the squares. The crowd gathers. Strangers start singing together. You can hear laughter, music, and the hum of Italian conversations mixing in the warm night air.

Ostuni’s natural soundtrack is better than anything we could overlay. The bells, the street performers, the energy of the piazzas, these sounds ARE Ostuni.

Some travel moments are better experienced than explained. This is one of them.

While everyone’s rushing to Rome, Florence, and Venice, we found ourselves wandering the quiet streets of Chieti in Abruzzo, a town where tourists are rare and authentic Italian life is everywhere.

✓ Rolling hills covered in olive groves
✓ Medieval streets with zero crowds
✓ Locals who smile when you attempt Italian
✓ Views that stretch for miles

Chieti sits on a hilltop overlooking valleys of vineyards and mountains in the distance. It’s the kind of place where you can get lost for hours, stumble upon 13th-century cathedrals, and feel like you’ve discovered Italy’s best-kept secret.

Sometimes the most memorable places aren’t in the guidebooks. They’re the ones you find by simply wandering with no agenda, no timeline, just curiosity and open eyes.

Turns out the best Italian teacher is orecchiette arrabbiata at in Bari! Every bite comes with a new word:

🇮🇹 Cin cin (cheers)
🇮🇹 Arrivederci (goodbye)

Jo Ellen is absolutely crushing the Italian vocabulary while I’m over here just trying to keep up 😅 But when the food is THIS good, the words come naturally!

If you’re visiting Bari, this spot is a must. Authentic Pugliese cuisine, incredible atmosphere, and pasta that’ll make you want to learn Italian just to properly express how delicious it is.

Pro tip: Order the orecchiette arrabbiata. Your taste buds (and your Italian skills) will thank you! 🌶️✨

We stumbled upon Chieti Cathedral (built in the 13th century!) and honestly, this might be one of Italy’s best-kept secrets. Stunning baroque interior, zero crowds, just pure architectural beauty and local vibes.

Sometimes the best moments happen when you’re just exploring, practicing your terrible Italian on each other, and celebrating the small wins. 🙌
