What a fabulous start of the last artistic residency of the season! We were happy to welcome Sol Miraglia and Ricardo Martinez Paz in Palermo and start working on a new book DESDE PARIS together.

We were blown away by the huge photographic archive of Ricardo Martinez that takes you to such iconic as the Palace, Le Rocambole, Scaramouche and Folies Bergères and lets us experience the evenings shared with Boy George or Grace Jones, aristocrats, punks and the LGBTQ+ community.

Can’t wait to show you more. Stay tuned💭

Another artistic residency has just finished, this time it was for Stephie Ronget Devred, a French photographer based between London and Paris.

In Palermo Stephie was working on the project that shows a dialogue between objects on the streets and the human experience. “I find that through the depiction of wear, the passage of time, and acts of repair, these objects become metaphors for the body — fragile, marked, mended — and carry within them the traces of both intimate and collective memory.“

Kicking off this season with the first Artist in Residency of the year: meet Stefanie Seufert, Berlin-based visual artist⭐️

In her work, Seufert explores the nature of photography itself—its materiality, cultural roles, and the ways we perceive and interpret images. At 89books, she will develop a project focused on the periphery, that is going to result in another version of Quaderno Palermo. Stay tuned to see the results👀
