Unfortunately, due to a scheduling conflict, I was unable to attend the Spyderco Media Event. However, fortunately, there was a public event this past weekend, and I was able to attend.

There were a lot of different events, including an official ribbon-cutting with Eric Glesser, and it ended with a Blade Sports International demonstration with Blade Sports Champion James Clifton and his wife, Michael.

My brother and I had a great time, and we appreciated the opportunity to attend. It is always a good time when I go to the Spyderco factory.

I will admit it, I was unaware of MuckRack for a long time. However, I recently learned I had an automatically created profile I didn't know about. So I went in, cleaned it up, and updated the story list. What a great way to collect a digital portfolio in one place.

I left out most of the press rips I have done over the years because they are mostly boring and would have bloated the story count to well over 1,000. But I did leave in some of the cooler press rips.

The only bummer about MuckRack is that it can't include print articles. My story list would more than double.

My design, the TOPS Knives C.U.T. 4.0 is getting a more EDC-friendly little brother, the C.U.T. 3.0. It is in production and should be available later this year.

The sheath is now finalized and is perfect. TOPS has a new feature in its sheaths - a retention screw. It works beautifully and removes the looseness that is sometimes present in the sheaths. Great idea, TOPS!

Some have asked why I chose to remove the ring and the answer is simple. It makes it more concealable. However, the handle itself is identical to the 4.0, just minus the ring. It feels almost identical in hand and came out exactly how I hoped it would.

If you like the C.U.T. 4.0 but would like something that is legal in more jurisdictions, and is more EDC friendly, the 3.0 will be perfect for you.

It is coming soon. Keep an eye out here, and I will announce when it launches.

TOPSKnives Springfield Armory

As a longtime knife writer and editor, my personal favorite knife pattern is the Kephart. For me, it is the ideal field knife, capable of a host of bushcraft chores.

That said, the Dogwood Custom Knives Kephart reproduction is the closest to the original I have ever used.

Dan spent a great deal of time with a micrometer, measuring every inch of the original (in Ethan Becker’s personal collection) to recreate the original, and he nailed it.

This one was a very special gift from Dan and features scales made from bloodwood that we backpacked out of the Amazon. So, it has very deep and personal meaning to me. Like Dan, it is one of a kind and will be a part of my life forever.
