On Tuesday, September 1, our third album, The Summer Rain Archive, will be released, 13 years after our second, The Canticle of the Temponauts, and 19 years after our first, A Million Year Picnic. In between, there was a long break of about ten years, before we came back in 2024 with live shows and the release of two singles, “Of Everything” and “Days Are Gone”, featuring Matt Purcell on vocals.
We went back to play at the International Pop Overthrow in Liverpool, appeared at Festival Beat, at the first Other Eyes Fest, and played another twenty or so shows around the place.
And now comes The Summer Rain Archive, complete with the obligatory 60s/70s sci-fi title and 12 songs, all original.
Some of these songs were developed over the last two years, some were born during those ten years of silence, and a few had been sitting in a drawer for many years. They were all recorded at elfo studio studio in Tavernago, with Albero Callegari producing.
The album features the Temponauts line-up of the last two years, Warm Morning Brothers, our 2014/15 drummer Jordi Tagliaferri, Alberto himself on bass, and some very special guests, including Antonio Bacciocchi on drums in 2 songs, Blanka Beder of Music From Neptune, and Matt Purcell, an honorary Temponaut who has often joined us live.
In this short video, you can hear a few glimpses of these songs, still built around the sound that has always been ours. We hope this album will be appreciated as much as the previous two. One thing is certain: it was born out of the same complexity and through plenty of difficulties.
This has always been a troubled band, one that has fought tooth and nail to hold on to its soul, and hasn’t always succeeded. But we’re still here, because
We are the Temponauts
We are a Rock & Roll band
In the jingle jangle morning
We’ll come following you.
