If you’re cruising to Santorini in the coming days or weeks, here’s the latest:

A retaining wall near the Old Port has partially collapsed, prompting local authorities to inspect the area and implement temporary safety measures. As a result, some cruise lines are adjusting shore operations, and guests may experience changes to tendering, disembarkation procedures, or shore excursions while inspections and repairs are underway. (Santorini Ports)

If you have a Santorini stop on your itinerary:
✅ Watch for updates from your cruise line.
✅ Be flexible—port operations can change on short notice.
✅ Shore excursions may be modified or canceled if needed for safety.

The safety of passengers and local residents is the top priority, and cruise lines will continue to work with local officials as the situation develops.

Before the captain takes over, a local harbor pilot comes aboard. The pilot knows every channel, current, tide, and hidden hazard in that specific port. Working together with the ship’s captain and bridge team, they safely guide the ship out to open water.

It’s an incredible process—and watching it in action is something every cruise lover should see! 🌊⚓

Alaska completely stole my heart. 🏔️🚢💙
