Parked up on a farm site in the middle of an orchard. They make their own c***r and c***r vinegar on the farm. The only sounds come from the cows in the field next door! Lovely! ☺️

Spent the following night overlooking the Loire, then drove through even more avenues of trees to a near-empty site at Ambrieres-les-Vallees on the River Varenne. The weather is getting fresher and generally more overcast. We’re parked up now in Domfront waiting for a vets appointment prior to Maisie-dogs return to the Uk. 🇬🇧

Headed north along the coast from Mimizan and viewed the amazing sand dunes around Arcachon , then continued through the miles of haunting charred forests (recent wildfires) of the Bordeaux region. Took a ferry ⛴️ from Pointe de Grave across to Royan then on to our next camping spot in a small village of Saujon. Basic site but only 13€ including electricity hookup - bargain! Had to put heating on last night and this morning as it’s getting fresher!

Off on a mini cruise across to Royan - sunny day for it! 😎

Pitched up at Hendaye last night (was going to be San Sebastián but no room at the parking there) quite a few trains going by - but not too noisy - it was the planes taking off and landing that drew our attention more.! Awoke to a lovely morning, set off for Mimizan stopping at Viella Saint Girons for a coffee, arriving at our stop at 3.30pm. Took a walk along to the beach then back to put the washing on while we had a drinkies at the bar 😊🤪

Spent a lovely afternoon/evening yesterday with my cousin and her partner in their hometown of Pinoso. Enjoyed a lovely, home cooked Spag Bol that evening then took a stroll down to the town in the morning for breakfast. We then travelled on reaching Cariñena by 6pm refuelling the van and stopping at a favorite hotel/cafeteria for refreshments - including a large wedge of tortilla - before parking up for the night.

Originally booked to stay for 2 nights at this gorgeous beach-side site, but booked an extra night as the weather improved and we wanted to enjoy it at its best. All facilities available including a pool. This was an ideal base for us to visit El Pinar de Campoverde and catch up with the family who purchased our villa, and to enjoy a roast lunch with our friend Lisa, who kindly gifted us a delicious bottle of Spanish brandy. 😋

From Calpe we travelled to Guadalest yesterday where the weather was rather changeable, and Suze’s new raincoat proved extremely useful. We ate a delicious selection of tapas in a lovely bar in the evening, sat by the window watching the ever-changing sky as the heavens opened outside. The view from the camper was amazing.

We arrived at the Mar Menor Campsite this afternoon at around 2.30pm, settled in, walked along the beach then had a spot of lunch in the local restaurant. The Mar Menor translates as little sea and is a lagoon of approx 16 miles x 8 miles at its widest point.

Stopping here for a couple of nights in order to catch up with friends at El Pinar de Campoverde where we owned a villa for about 42 years.

Left our pretty campsite with its gnarled trees and headed down the coast to Peñíscola. Really warm day so sat out on the site and enjoyed our lunch. Set Maisie-dog up in her pushchair and headed to the coast for a walk along the harbour and up to the old town.

Spectacular views along the ancient castle walls.

Dined out in a local eatery in the evening, weather still very warm, but we were rained on on the way back to the campervan.

Weather warnings in place so decided not to stop at Dénia as planned as it could be affected, and moved on to a pleasant site in Calpe.
