Il 12 Giugno 1973 Dolly Parton registrò "I Will Always Love You" durante una sessione di registrazione allo Studio B della RCA a Nashville. La canzone è una dedica a Porter Wagoner suo mentore ed ex partner dal quale si stava separando professionalmente dopo una collaborazione durata sette anni. Quando fu pubblicata nel marzo del 1974, la canzone raggiunse il primo posto nella classifica Billboard Hot Country Songs. La versione di Whitney Houston per il film del 1992 "Bodyguard" detiene il record di singolo più venduto da un'artista femminile nella storia della musica.

King Kamehameha il Grande, fu il leggendario guerriero che nel 1810 unificò le isole Hawaii in un unico regno. Le leggende avevano predetto che una luce nel cielo avrebbe segnalato la nascita di un capo destinato a conquistare le isole e la luce fu quella della cometa di Halley sfrecciata nel cielo intorno al 1758. A testimonianza della sua immensa forza fisica e del suo destino, da giovane rovesciò la famosa Pietra di Naha che pesava più di 3 tonnellate la profezia diceva che chiunque l'avesse rovesciata avrebbe governato l'intero arcipelago. Iniziò l’unificazione con l'isola di Hawaii (la Big Island) nel 1782, l'ultima isola, Kauaʻi, cedette pacificamente alla sua sovranità nel 1810. Istituì la Legge della Pagaia Spezzata, volta a proteggere le donne e i bambini, una delle prime leggi umanitarie al mondo e rimane tuttora parte integrante della Costituzione dello Stato delle Hawaii. Kamehameha morì l'8 maggio 1819. Per proteggere il suo mana sacro (energia spirituale), le sue ossa furono nascoste in una grotta segreta. Ogni anno, l'11 giugno, lo Stato delle Hawaii celebra il Giorno di Re Kamehameha per onorarne la memoria.

Il 10 Giugno 2004 ci lasciava Ray Charles durante gli anni '60 ha contribuito all'integrazione razziale nella musica country e pop. Il suoi due album del 1962 e 1963 Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music, Vol. 1&2, hanno contribuito a portare il country nel mainstream musicale. Il glaucoma lo aveva reso cieco all'età di sei anni. Ha piazzato più di 30 singoli nella Top 40 statunitense, ha vinto 17 Grammy Awards, si è sposato due volte ed ha avuto dodici figli da nove madri diverse, lo ricordiamo con tanto affetto all'interno del suo Ray's Music Exchange Pawn Shop nel capolavoro The Blues Brothers.

Donald Duck fece il suo debutto cinematografico il 9 giugno 1934 in "La Gallinella Saggia", diventando immediatamente un'icona dell'animazione, è apparso in oltre 190 film e innumerevoli fumetti e libri, più di qualsiasi altro personaggio Disney. Nel 2002, TV Guide ha dichiarato Donald Duck uno dei 50 più grandi personaggi dei cartoni animati di tutti i tempi. L' 8 giugno 2020 ci lasciava all'età di 67 anni, James Hand era nato a Waco, in Texas. Aveva imparato a suonare la chitarra da autodidatta e quando aveva 12 anni iniziò a esibirsi nei locali honky-tonk e nei roadhouse. Ha trascorso la maggior parte della sua vita svolgendo lavori faticosi per sbarcare il lunario. Ha lavorato come addestratore di cavalli professionista, truck driver, rodeo competitor e buttafuori. Nonostante scrivesse e suonasse musica da 30 anni, ha pubblicato il suo album di debutto, Shadows Where the Magic Was, solo nel 1997, quando di anni ne aveva 45. Dopo aver firmato con la Rounder Records la sua popolarità è cresciuta e questo gli ha permesso di realizzare il sogno di una vita: esibirsi sul leggendario palco del Grand Ole Opry di Nashville. Charley Crockett nel 2021 ha onorato la sua eredità pubblicando un intero album tributo intitolato 10 for Slim: Charley Crockett Sings James Hand.

Il National Drive-In Movie Day cade il 6 giugno e commemora l’anniversario dell'apertura del primo drive-in americano da parte di Richard M. Hollingshead Jr. Sua madre era una donna di un "certo peso" che faticava a sedersi comodamente sulla sedia di una sala cinematografica. Richard iniziò a sperimentare una soluzione, installò un grande schermo nel cortile sul retro di casa sua a Camden, nel New Jersey, collegandolo alla sua auto con un proiettore Kodak del 1928 e incominciò fare proiezioni per le persone del quartiere. Richiese il brevetto il 6 agosto 1932 e gli fu concesso il 16 maggio 1933.
Con tre investitori, fondò una società ed iniziò la costruzione del drive-in in un parcheggio capace di ospitare 400 auto. In meno di tre settimane, la costruzione fu completata.
L’Automobile Movie Theatre aprì sull'Admiral Wilson Boulevard a Pennsauken Township, nel New Jersey, il 6 giugno 1933. L'insegna recitava "Drive-In Theatre" - "Il primo cinema al mondo dove puoi sederti in macchina, vedere e ascoltare i film”. Il primo film proiettato fu "Wives Beware, il costo del biglietto era di 0,25 dollari a persona.
Nel 1958, negli Stati Uniti c'erano oltre 4.000 drive-in, oggi, rimangono solo circa 300 drive-in operativi solo grazie agli sforzi dei volontari della comunità.
